Beta Release v4 22nd July 2006
I have finally fitted my carPC into the car, and have been ironing out some of the issues with it. So I have only added a few items. Not had much feedback. . . . . is there anybody out there ?
Download RR Skin from here http://www.stonewaresystems.co.uk/BlackAl-betav4.rar
Download Rainlendar Skin from here http://www.stonewaresystems.co.uk/Rain-BVOA.rar
Unzip to your skin directory and use rrconfig to point to this skin.
I have also started to skin Rainlendar to integrate into RR. To use this, you need to download and install Rainlendar. I have installed it into the Road Runner main directory. Rainlendar has a skins folder, and you need to copy my BVOA skin folder into the Rainlendar\skins directory. Then fire up Rainlendar, right click on the current skin and navigate to the skins option, and select BVOA.
To install the matching BVOA skinget Rainlendar working in this skin, you need to add two files and a directory into the \Road Runner\LAUNCH directory.
First create a directory C:\Road Runner\LAUNCH\Rainlendar, and then using Notepad, copy these lines below to Rainlendar.ini
[GENERAL]
PATH = C:\Road Runner\Rainlendar-0.22\Rainlendar.exe
TryEmbeddedTimeOut = 5
WindowSearchString=Rainlendar
(Please note that your Rainlendar install directory may be named differently to this.) You also need to add a suitable Rainlendar.jpg to the directory.
Weather images are in the weather file c:\road runner\weather, and the weather directory included needs to be installed
Fonts
Fonts have been changed to use the standard windows fonts
Arial
Verdana
Wingdings3
Webdings
Changes
Initial Menu screen changed to include 5 Flash Clocks (respect to Happpyg) These are:-
Speedo
CPU
CPU Temp (based on Speedfan)
Heading
Sat count
You may need to use Xport3 or something similar to multiplex the data to pass to the clocks, as well as support your GPS Application.
Top left (date/time) is hidden VISU button on all screens
Top Right (Song Details) is exit button (Need to press for 2 secs to operate)
Menu button (bottom left) uses a jpg image (90 x 60) called menu.jpg. This can be changed to any image of your choice.
The OSK keyboard has now changed to use the Original Virtual Keyboard from SilentAdmirer, skinned to match BVOA
Added Rainlendar skins in Launch Folder
Fixed Day/Night Button on second menu screen, the button area had been moved down the screen.
Changed wbrowser.skin to www.skin in order to get the OSK working correctly.

Download from Here
Removed Windows logo (Menu button) from skins and added as an image file to give more flexibility to use whatever image suits you on the skin. The image size I use is 90(h) x 60(w), and is called menu.gif. The easiest way to change this is to make a gif image of 90 x 60, and replace menu.gif in the skin directory.
I have been trying to get this thing fitted into the car with limited success, so not much progress on the outstanding skins yet.
I still haven't had much feedback on the skin yet, so assume it works as expected ? I thinking of using the timer to control the visualisation from the main skins after a set amount of time. This will be reset by hitting the visualisation button (top right of the screen).
Any suggestions or bugs please post me a reply.
cheers KPJUK

Time for skin number two !
KPJ Grey skin didn't give enough contrast in strong daylight in the car, works great on the bench, but thats no use to no-one !
So here is a re-designed skin for beta release, all comments welcome.

I guess the flash in the middle of Menu 2 is a bit pretentious, to change it, just replace the file logo.swf with a swf file of your choice, plenty are available.
Enjoy

I really like this skin because it's easy to read and the main menu has plenty of configurable buttons.
One change I'd like to see is to add an online indicator. Personally I'd rather see that then cpu usage, but here's an idea. You have the total track time, then the current track time displayed in the middle of the slider counting up to the track time. Why not put the total track time in the middle of the slider instead of current track time, so it shows what the bar graph is heading toward, then put an online indicator where the total track time is displayed now? Just a thought.
I'm about to go on vacation but I'll try to give this skin a good test when I get back in a couple of weeks. I use MapPoint so I can use the external GPS skin for that, I think. I also use PhoCo so I'd like to see a skin for that, but I know PhoCo support is tricky.
Nice work and I hope you continue it.
Cheers,

Trying the gps screen the full scrn, + , - buttons don't work on my system. The screen flashes and stays as it was.
