Ok, I am now doing them in 800x600, but looking at the cfx_red skin, I think mine will now appear squished on my widescreen... (the cfs_red skin is 800x480, but does not show up with a black bar on the bottom)

With the skin editor, is there any way to drag the button defining areas or do I have to play with adjusting the X and Y values?
    Hello mate,

Their are a couple of versions of the skin editor. The one you want is version 0.3.019. That one allows you to drag and drop defined areas.

The one you want is http://www.rrdownloads.net/RRSkinEditor.zip

[QUOTE=sebberry]Do I have to use the DOWN, ON... name scheme or can I call the MEUN_ON file "MENU_OVER"? (As in "mouseover" in web development)

RR takes the four images, and recognises them as xxx_empty, xxx_off, xxx_on, xxx_down. I think you can call them anything you want, BUT they will act as above. If your skinning for yourself call them what you want, but if you ever release the skin for others, changing the naming schema will confuse them.

Ok, you should make the skin size to suit your screen, some users prefer 1024 x 768, I use 800 x 600. If you have an 800 x 480, then make your jpgs that size, otherwise when they are scaled, you will lose the aspect ratio, and circles will become ovals.

thanks for the link to the skin editor.

Sorry for sounding like such a newb. So.. when I run roadrunner on my desktop computer with my 800*480 version of my skin (on my 1280*1024 monitor) it takes up 800*600 in the top left corner of my screen with a black bar under my jpeg. When I run roadrunner with the CFX_red skin (800*480) it loads fine with no black bar.

Now, logically it would seem that if I ran my 800*600 skin on my car monitor (widescreen xenarc) it would appeared squished vertically. If I ran my 800*480 skin, would it still not show with the black bar? Why is the black bar showing in my skin but not the cfx_red skin?

I use 800*600 on my carputer and let the xenarc scale it and stretch it or do whatever it does to fit to the screen (The windows desktop appears stretched on my car screen)

    Hello Mate,

My screen runs 800 x 600 native so I can't have a play to see what could be the cause. You could check the general.ini file which should be in your skin directory. This is what RR uses to scale the images to fit your defined resolution. If you are making skins at 800 x 480, make sure that it is also set to 800 x 840. That could account for it, otherwise I have no other ideas, sorry bro.
