Thread: Video Player - DUALMON - DVD and VIDEO Toggle...?

lemme get this right? u want to use dualmon, but switch between video and dvd? As in keep the video playing when you switch to dvd mode and vise versa?

or

you want to STOP the video from running when you switch to the dvd (and vise versa)?

the first one i couldnt understand why anyone would wanna do so i couldnt come up with a solution. Any easy solution for the latter would be insert and audio command before the command to switch to dvd/video. For example if your watching a dvd and wanna switch to video mode you'd make the command for that button "AUDIO||load;video_player.skin". loading the audio menu would stop dualmon from playing back the dvd when you switch to video

First - thanks for the quick response, and clearly it is not the first. The second is it..... What I want is the benefit of using Dualmon in all the glory, but be able to STOP the video so the DVD video will force in (or vice versa) - currently that does not seem to occur... it just keeps flowing which ultimately it should do - unless we want to force is "the need".

What I was after was "how could that be done" -- and I think you offer me just that --- and am going to try and code that right now to test!!!! THANKS!!!

In another thread Guino did mention seperate skin(s) for DVD with more commands (Menu, Root, ...), and another ski for Video (i.e. dvd_player, video_player). Until I can get to that point I am working with all of my options - and slowly getting right there.

Ok - seems to make the force now just going to work with it to see if I can bypass the screen load - or tweak around it. But it does the trick and just need to see how to best structure it.

Much thanks - and if you have any other suggestions to do this anymore ellegant please let me know. Every day I am trying to knock off my skinning and RR knowledge and have been getting a little more every day.

- on this topic, and since RR has advanced and I have seen many threads discussing sending commands to MPC for DVD control, was this indeed addressed? If so creating a skin to do the rest would be easy. I just was not sure and looks like not yet and is part do to the way RR uses MPC.

Struggling forcing back to DVD - or missing a step. It seems once "DVD" loads it does once fine, I can switch back "via your suggestion" - but to get back to "DVD" forcing the reload of MPC in DVD mode is having an issue.

Ok - I found the need, not the fix.... in line with the ability to send other commands into the MPC window for a new DVD SKIN...

If I could do "CTRL-D" - and assign to a button that is the fix.... So if that could be done now, I tried sendkey but no go due to the embed I think. However CTRL-D plus the other DVD MENU commands would fix this one PERFECT....

You can always use sendkey to send CTRL-D

BTW, I'll take a look at the code that switch from VIDEO - DVD, or DVD-VIDEO. I didn't think of that case when I code the dualmon support part ... dam I am getting old.

I would love to be able to do that, but my understanding is this is not that easy to do with the way MPC is embedded into RR. Please correct me if I am wrong as this would end the issue - and I could move on.... Here is what I see (UNLESS my CTRL-D syntax is wrong).... RR/MPC does not see this command when assigned to a button (per my reading I think this is to be expected)..?

But if I select the video window, use CTRL-D, perfecto. It has to do with the key commands (many threads on this) heading into the MPC/RR window.

Please tell me I am wrong as this would help me major - or my syntax is wrong (should I say, what the correct syntax would be).

Here is the problem.
I don't know why MPC doesn't take CTRL+D via sendkeys, but it does take other sendkey command.
The problem when switch from DVD-VIDEO or VIDEO-DVD if you use internal DVD and VIDEO player that doesn't switch is because both use the same skin (video_player.skin). When RR check for switch from 1 skin to another, if it use the same skin, it doesn't do anything else. I'm going to find a way to work around.
