The thing i like best about flash skins is the volume control. Its instant, the volume control on the traditional skins is kinda slow IMO

While touchscreen volume control is nice, a REAL volume knob is better! I use the touchscreen to finely adjust the volume right now (in .5% increments), and my remote volume knob from the USB Audigy 2 NX 5.1 for 5% increments. Ever had your car pc lock up and start repeating 3 seconds of the song over and over? Quickest way is to hard shut down the pc, or you can adjust the volume manually down to nothing to let the computer perhaps unfreeze or shut down properly.

I really really like this skin. I don't really have a use for a drop down menu because then you have to look at the screen while driving. I have the ten button nostromo gaming pad custom molded in front of the screen, that gives me up/down/left/right arrows just like a regular keyboard, esc on the top left, alt+f4 on the top right, and the other 4 or 5 buttons have dedicated functions so I don't have to go to any "main menu" to get to anything.

There is even a shift key so you have a whole new set of 9 button functions, but I don't use that much. There is something to be said of tactile+feedback control vs touchscreen for everything. Tactile should get you there, touchscreen could fine tune/choose/modify everything. It is safer this way since you need to look at the screen much less. A good balance of the two is required, since you are doing two+ things at once, driving, and entertaining/navigating yourself

Imagine if your highbeam, or horn were used solely with a touchscreen... or if you had to look at your remote each time you wanted to change the channel on your home TV... you would get frustrated! lol

LOVE the osk m8. Also, nice flash list. Its cool to see one really nicely integrated into a skin... I barely realized it was flash until I noticed the VOL reading overlaying the song titles.

I've done the list so it works by scrolling top to bottom.. listing 5 per page, rather then scrolling 123 and staying in the middle. I'm still unsure if its better like this or not.. but I'm kinda liking it. :-)

still lots to do.. but you know more than anyone here the work thats needed into producing one of these..

    ...Point is he likes knobs

CdR, let me know if you need a tester or anything. Btw, are you using the new FLASHBACK & FLASHBROWSE commands for the directory list? They are infinitely faster and would fit nicely into your code that checks for changes in the CUSTOMDL.

EDIT: just read the bit on how you are doing the lists. I think I like the page up / page down better because it's just faster than scrolling through all the songs individually. However, I tried to do the same thing for the directory list and I ran into a couple of problems. Basically, if you are going up/down 5 at a time and you have 6 slots, if you scroll all the way down on a list of say 12 songs... it would leave 4 blank slots open on the bottom. Is this how you are handling it when the list is not a multiple of 5? It should be ok if your slots don't send commands when they don't contain a song title but I remember it getting a little tricky in the dir browser. I’d be interested to know what you have planned.

Let your skin see some new hardware already! Don't keep her locked up in the basement with no food or water.

Im pretty sick and I didnt understand what Vineet Singh is trying to say either. . .
