Man - I believe you and those 2 posts are proof .... I have 2 machines no damn luck. This is much less RR as it is MPC and some interaction with a certain codec - it has to be. The question is which and how to fix it

I spent 5 hours googling looking for some assembly of information and saw nada

I will continue testing on my laptop and let you know when I get it. Although, tonight I have lots of work to do so i may have to post the results tomorrow. Hope I can get to the bottom of this for you. -DiNASTY

Thanks a ton - I will be trying everything and this is about as funky as they get. Espcially since it does load the DVD and play it, you would think it would be an app version but I've tried about 5 versions - same thing. We also see in those threads the issue.

I am 200% certain this is outside of RR and something with MPC and a codec or??? - just flaky odd but would rather find the recipe of this vs playing with another external player given how well MPC ties into RR and want it that way. I've spent a ton of time on the others - pain in the ***.....

    Thanks kindly....

RR DVD Library (ISO and Misc Video).... - coding assistance?

Ok - so we are working on this and assume it may or not get tackled, certainly hoping so but if not I want to move forward and really need some help from Dinasty, LS, Guino, and all of you guys that know so damn much - I am learning trust me and trying....

First I don't expect you to be a tutorial for just some pointers and syntax assist - I am not being lazy and reading the forums like crazy so any assist is certainly appreciated.

Per the initial part of this thread:

Once I get this working either direct with MPC, or have to use daemon, one thing is certain - I need to pass the path-filename as a var to the loading app. Likely easier with MPC than daemon but as I see should be no biggie.

So if I could - I am looking for a little input on this??

    1) I want a skin page that will show as THUMBS and will begin at perhaps c:\DVD ... then say under would look like c:\DVD\movie1\ .iso .jpg ... c:\DVD\movie2\ .iso .jpg (and perhaps the synopsis text file per Dinastys tip as well I will figure out later). Was thinking a button press then Synopsis as a popup overlay.....

Now I know this would look much like an ALBUM dir and show as the same using some variation of the SD syntax..... May I beg for an assist ? Now my preference would be that SD pointing to a specific path, when that skin page is loaded it pops up with the THUMBS of those folders much like an album but an ISO or VIDEO file is inside. If I do 2 seperate pages I would not need a logic decisions, (more complicated would be looking of the file=ISO then MOUNT then PLAY, if not play....

    2) Second piece will now be passing that over to my Daemon load (which I have all but working static) as a var. I believe I need to send the path and file into a VAR then in the RUN syntax pass accordingly?

Again could you perhaps toss me a syntax examples

I would love to write this on my own and am not asking for you to do this at all - honest. I am diggin away and you can see I aint lazy - hopefully.

i can confirm this works also, i dont have any iso's right now but i did hvae this working a long time ago.
Ill have to rip a dvd or something to test it out now and see if i can get it to break or fix it if its broken.

I do think it may be a codec issue though or some setting somewhere. Different apps may use a different codec. On my laptop i have nvidia pure video but also windvd and powerdvd, and MCE2005 that uses the nvidia codec, but mplayerClassic uses something else, as well as windvd.

Ill take a crack at it, im sure one of us is bound to find a solution

    kolemieux,

Good news!! I'm 100% positive it is something in the Nero 7 Ultra Edition package that makes this work. I basically updated the laptop with every media player and codec from my desktop and checked the video in RR after every program install. Now it's just a matter of narrowing down the Nero components that allow MPC to pick up an ISO and play it. My initial guess is that it has something to do with the Nero ImageDrive component or perhaps a codec of some sorts.

Here is the info on the Nero package:

Version 7.0.8.2 Ultra Edition Package Includes:

    Nero BackitUp
    Nero Home
    Nero PhotoSnap
    Nero SoundBox
    Nero Toolkit
    Nero Fast CD-Burning Plugin
    Nero MediaHome
    Nero Showtime
    Nero SmartStart
    Nero WaveEditor
    Nero Vision
    Nero Soundtrax
    Nero Recode
    Nero ImageDrive
    Nero CoverDesign

Give me a few minutes to single out the file/files that are in use while MPC is playing the ISO.

@LS: OK, maybe I'm not 100% sure then... lol. I tested multiple times and it works when Nero is installed and doesn't when it's not. Tested on both my desktop and my laptop. Perhaps there is something other than Nero that makes it work on your machine?

@All: Please help by reporting if the following ISO image plays on your RR with the "built-in" player. This is what you need to test:

    1) Download this test ISO image (4.5MB)
    2) unzip it to your video folder.
    3) check "Use Built In Player" in the Video tab of RRconfig.
    4) add ".iso,.ISO" without quotes to the "Video file Types" feild.
    5) open RR select the ISO and try and play it.

Please lemme know how it goes
