I agree 100%. The default Lexus "skin" would be very easy to duplicate, as Justin has done (I seriously doubt he got "permission" form Lexus to copy their GUI). As far as graphics, All that is needed is a background, and about 4 differnet button sizes, that are simple PhotoShop bevels. Then placing text/icons on the buttons.

Anyone with just very basic photoshop skils could duplicate the look of that skin easily. Then you could decide on what colors to use from scratch.

Who cares about justin?? He clones the lexus skin for CF then gets fussy when someone wants to clone it for RR? I would release it just because of his stupidity and to prove it doesn't pay to be a hypocrite.

IMO opinion though the lexus skin is pretty boring. I do like the OEM lexus system though, you can lookup a GPS destination with a phone number!

I can't be bothered with silly arguments.... the bottom line is this:

-I spent an enormous amount of time building this skin from scratch.
-I did not make use of any art files from 'Lexus'.
-I only mimic the basic button coloring and background.

And finally, if anyone wants to make a similar skin to my Nexus, from scratch, then so be it. I even posted basic templates in PSD format so people can get started. The layout of Nexus is pretty similar to the basic CF skin, so if you get in trouble for copying the CF layout, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN, and I do not condone it.

Now leave me alone!

How's CF going? Still delayed releases with old bugs? Have you tried RR with the Freedom skin? It is a very easy change-over from CF, it works solid without bugs, and it is 100% customizable (just via txt/ini/skin files rather than being able to set it up from within the FE ...CF's strongest feature next to the media-manager differences and supporting ID3 album-art).

RPM: After RC4 came along, CF is very stable, and very usable. I really like it in its current state.

I am working on an Amber/Orange Nexus skin now. I know a lot of people have orange dashes, including myself. I am 70% there.... lookout for screenies...

Chill out there mustang boy... It is hosted, as a CF skin. Download it and reverse engineer it yourself if you are going to be a dick about it. ...or abide by JITs request and just make your own from scratch... it is about the simplest photoshop job possible (no offence JIT... that's what makes it great).

LOL, i always say that about the CF forum. I dont even use CF and it ****es me off how many "when is version X coming out" threads keep popping up week after week.

Sure, it may be a clone of the lexus oem stuff, but he created everything from scratch so it is HIS skin. Show some respect, at least on this site.
Ive spent countless months perfecting my skin (still not done yet) and i would be ****ed too if someone just took it and ported it to CF or some other app without my permission. Anyone would feel the same way.
Sure you may or may not have a legal foot to stand on to protect your skin, and honestly who really would bother even going that far. But it is disrespectful to take something without asking. Even if that something is based on something else. Everything is based on something else. Id like to see Lexus even try to claim rights to that design.
So those giving justintime a hard time (no pun) need to cool off.

If people seem to like the CF style and layout so much, why not go use CF and stop begging for clones?

im sure there are ways in CF to do the same thing RR does.

Is everyone missing the point that this skin was designed by lexus. I'm sure the software engineers at Lexus have better things to do than care about some carPC geek copying their skin design. Same can be said here, if someone ported one of my designs I would take it as a compliment that I do good work. I would not get all hostile and claim the design as my own when in fact its not. I know all the countless hours one can spend on application programming, its worse with GUI stuff, as a true artist is never satisfied with their design. All im saying is this is a LAME thread if started with no intentions of releasing Nexus for RR. If this is a Centrafuse 'only' project than keep it that way, hopefully the skin works better than the crappy backend it runs on. No offense to anyone or their work, just doing my part to keep the internet an interesting place.

Buy the way I do my RR developing on a SuSe linux box. And, No, Im not kidding! I really don't have a taste for software or OS's that requires, keys, locks, serials, validations, etc. The best software out there is open source. I'll even host the files for thunderpot if he decides to release this.
