This is the transparent gif file I have used, if its of any use. The problem seems to be the load time for each screen, first time around only. Whenever you move the buttons or change the background, I have to call RELOADSKIN, which blows out the memory. If you try and rebuild the screens without the reload, some objects (s) and labels with scrolling text, keep the old image as their background, which screws it up.

Still it gives a good effect overall, and makes customisation easier for the general community.

Once I have the skins to my liking, i will work on other frames, and button styles. I have some aluminium, vinyl and wood buttons that I have been playing with, but I need to finish other bits off first. . . .

Got the config screen working, so now all three colour framesets can be changed by clicking the button on the apps\config screen. The framesets are now stored in the Colours directory.

Needs a new download I'm afraid ! see the first post.

hey man, this is really cool... I did a skin a while ago for centafuse that had the appearance of transparent buttons over a background image, but cf don't really support transparencies, it was an illusion & the graphics were built into each & every button

there were tons of guys who wanted to be able to replace the background image with there own, but of course it wasn't possible without redoing each & every psd.... this is really cool, I bet many guys will like this, great job

    Thumbs up

    Cheers TurboCAD6,

its good to get encouragement when new concepts come out. I called the skin Minimal because I wanted to have minimal interruption for the background images. That way the look can be changed with little work. I have been trying to get transparent images working for an age, and a friend suggested to try the way newspapers do shading colours. I am really pleased with the way its come out.

when I did mine, I found that although it was easy to stick any image back there, most images didn't look too good, I mean if it's too busy it don't look right, if theres to much contrast, or a main focal point of the image it didn't look good & it was more distracting than anything else... the best results I got was using a muted image that really didn't have any central focus part, kinda just a background image...

this was one of my latest revisions... i temporaraly abandoned it untill cf settles down a bit with the changes & stuff... I called it, traffic

this ain't the best shot to show the transparency & background image, but you'll get the idea..

Thats actually the sort of effect I was aiming for, Nice one. I am no graphics designer, but it would be good to start to get together a library of images that can be psoitioned on the screen of button styles, and info panels in different colours. Then people could get the effect they are looking for with a lot less hassle.

I'd like to see this skin finished, using the rr transparency effect to see how it comes out, but good work mate.

    cheers

I did finish it for the most part, several times actually, but in cf....

I do have a few images that I thought were good for stuff like this... I don't want to crap all over your thread, but if you want me to post a few up I will.... I'd have to dig them out of an older machine though... don't think I have them here at the moment..

actually, some stuff is in that old thread of mine...

Drove errands wth this on today. XM works fine. Up/Down, Next/Prevoius Station was a little unintuitive and my playlist labels were unuseable, but all buttons work, all labels/indicators/images were exactly as expected.

I do wish the playlist was wider and had more rows displayed. With XM, all visible channels get updated onscreen, so the more the better. Most of my "Favorites" have 8 or more channels stored.

    Thanks GizmoQ,

I can sort that out for you, I need to get the balance between background visibility and usability right, but without being able to see the screens, its a little difficult. I will post up new images later today.

I don't really understand how favourites work, I see that Blue Devil has a separate Favourites screen, I will see if I can understand andd use that as a base for a Fav screen here. (Hope you don't mind JohnWPB!)

Cheers mate and thanks a bunch.
