    traffic RR

this is a preview of a skin I'm working on for my minivan... when I finish it, it will be released as a portrait mode skin... when I'm done with a portrait version I may do a standard landscape skin of this, if anyone wants it....

btw, this is set up for a 12.1" screen as-is...

the mute button shows on, & the menu button shows down image...

there are a whole lot of pages to do.....

    any input is apreciated

I like the idea a lot! Hasn't been done before!

To be honest, I like the first version better. For some reason it looks more realistic.

I don't think however that it's gonna be as cool looking as this when it's modified to landscape.
    BMW 525tds -Biostar I94GM-I4 -Celeron M44O 1,86GHz, M2-ATX, 1Gb, 320GB -HQCT RDS tuner -Creative Extigy -iBus controller -Lilliput 7" touchscreen -DLS Ultimate A7 amplifier -Focal 130K, 130V, 27V2 speakers

yeah, I blured the second one & took away a bit of the photo look & leaned a bit towards the artsy side, I think that may be better for day to day use... still not 100% sure which way I like better... once I choose then all the other screens will be done to match... after all the psd's are in place, I can do a few different backgrounds as different skins... a lighter daytime shot for daytime & a darker night shot, like these, as a night skin... the hardest part is getting all the psd's done & in place & all the buttons & labels coded & positioned, then swaping out backgrounds won't be too intense really...

& this skin looks real cool at normal landscape, but it does start to become a bit more cramped cause of the smaller screen...

This looks really good. I like the second version better. I the only thing I would tell you to change so far would be the buttons. You separate them more. IDK they just don't look right. Also the font had too much bevel as well as the button, tone it done a notch.

Nice skin... Too bad I only know one person with a 12" narrow screen.

Oh yeah, change that signal light (top-left corner) from red to green, it's annoying.

Nice TC! Good to see you in the RR world. This skin might work fairly well on my TabletPC since it auto-switches to portrait when flipped anyway. That's my CarPC for now as my built-in one was stolen. What res is it for? My TPC is 600x1024.

Are you going to try to use transparent buttons like that other minimal skin?

hey quattro, your right, those buttons are going to be redone cause those I just threw them togeather & made into a smart object to set up my layer properties, I didn't space them all 100%.. you can see that they don't look the same at each seem, some are overlaped... I'll redo those to be 100% once I have the final layout... I did think the lower text is way too beveled, but that's cause right now I'm just copying & pasting the styles to keep it all uniform... the smaller text will need to be finetunned in the end for a bit less bevel cause it's smaller... I'll cut down slightly on the main button text bevel too.. thanks

hey dj, theres a couple of guys with tablets & portrait screens... this'll work as well on an 8.4" as a 12.1", but in portrait mode initially... I'm pretty sure I'll wind up doing a regular landscape skin with this afterwards, but I need to finish the portrait skin first

hey rpm, I've been a fan of rr for longer than cf really... but rr has so many great skins, that I usually just adapt & modify an existing skin for myself, I've never really had to build my own... with cf it's different... theres ONE skin.... if you want anything at all you have to build it...

I'm not giving up on cf really, but I won't build another skin for it until I can buy a non expiring version!!!.... it SUCKS to build a whole custom skin, just to have the program change, & no longer be compatable.... this is why I decided to do a traffic in rr... at least I know that the skin will be good for a good long time, as rr is always backwards compatable... hopefully some day cf will be too...

this should scale decent to your screen, it'll be streached a little taller looking, but should still be ok i think...

I don't know about the transparency... I have no idea how to do that... I did just ask kpjuk about how he did that... that would be cool.. it does look a bit complicated though
