Would it be possible for you to email me a copy of the nRoute project you are using.

From what I can tell it is some form the original posted by SubaruWRX.

You can send it to obrienj@ec.rr.com

Also, is there any documentation on how to use skinbedder?

    Regards,
    Jim
Sorry for the late reply, I did not visit this thread for a while.

Here is how I use skinbedder with nRoute and RR. All guru's, Correct me if I am wrong

In RRconfig click on the GPS path. Then goto where you have save your skinbedder and double click skinbedder.exe. Next change your GPS window name to nRoute and GPS mode to external. Here is a sample:

I have save my skinbedder in RR folder.

If exiting RR won't close skinbedder, add this in your RR.ini :

    closeapps=true

I will sent you 2 skins for nRoute one made by Subaru WRX with transparent buttons but anything behind transparent button not refreshed (fix goto:embedding SB and nRoute in RR which I have not try yet) and OSK not working very well, some keys cannot be pressed. Another made by ramy zohair(no transparent button and no OSK).

Both of the copies I have included the fix of multiple SB in taskbar.

Thats about it. Hope it helps.

    RPM-VR4,

Thanks for the explanation. Given that Visio, PS, and Paint can read these .png files, what is the technique you use in skinbedder to read and display them?

As you well know, accessing location 0 can mean a varible isn't initialized, a function failed but that was not detected, and a whole bunch of other things like that.

Can you determine if the error is in your code or in some library routine you call?

As I have the time, I would be willing to look at the code as long as it is in Java, C, C++, or VB

I tried the select all->new->... thingy with no joy. Also, Visio can load one of the distributed nRoute .png files, but can't break it down into it's component parts. On my .png file, it can. But that shouldn't matter as at the point you are using it, it should just be an image that you display and may or may not resize.

Anyway, if I can help let me know, This is a potential "show-stopper" for me as I need to build several interfaces and SB seemed like the way to go.

    Regards,
    Jim

    Nemo1,

    Thank you.

BTW, have you ever had a problem displaying a .png file you created? Were you able to resolve it?

What technology do you use to create .png files?

    Regards,
    Jim

No problem, always glad to help. I have not created any png files yet. I am just starting to learn how to skin using SB and getting a lot of help from RPM VR4 (Thanks). I am planning to get some png files and try to play around to learn skining.

    Cheers

I use a PNG library for Delphi (Pascal). I have the source and had to modify it to allow positioning the way I wanted it to. I haven't looked at that PNG source for months and it always use to work fine. I sware that if you use PhotoShop 7, CS, or CS2 to re-create the PNG you can get it to work (even if it takes 2 or 3 select all/cut/paste goes). I have no clue why some PNGs work and others do not. If you want all my Sb source (Delphi/Pascal) I am happy to send it to you. Just PM me your e-mail.

    Exclamation nRoute sking in progress

Hi all, i'm following the forum from long time ago and it gave me too much satisfactions so I decided to start making something for this excellent forum and I choose the nRoute sking because I know many people use nRoute with their GPS.
These are just some screenshots of the work i'm doing.
To do this work i'm using skinbedder and the buttons made by Subaru-WRX and an OSK that i found in this forum too but I don't remember who made it, sorry for that.
I hope you find it useful. I will try to finish it at the end of this month.
