Sorry mate, been out of the house all day in the shed finishing my offroad encosure and mowing the lawn etc.

There is no function in the API to turn on Log to file so this can't be done in RR. You can only save a Track file. The only way I can see you could do this is to assign Log to file to a function key but it is a bit dangerous because the function key toggles log to file on or off. Ozie remembers the state of the log to file flag between sessions so that is probably OK.

Can you confirm you don't use log to Memory/Map? I got a track full error after half a day which probably happened because I had this turned on.

I have given saving files a bit of thought. I was thinking of saving Track 1 to a file with the filename based on the date and time when you exited Ozie. While I was at it, I would probably do the same thing to Waypoints as well. I think I could do this quite quickly in a command line program before I work out RR's messaging interface and you could run this from RR using the RUNQ command before closing Ozi from RR. Pretty sure RUNQ runs the program hidden. Would that do?

I think you should still offer save the track file and waypoint file within Skibbedder but I think you have got that working anyway.

I've been busy too, no time for coding, finally got my off road enclosure built without frying anything. Will post pics on the Aussie Offroad thread. My Xenarc monitor cleared customs late last week, so probably woun't do any coding on an RR DLL for Ozie until I get something in my car.

In the setup notes for the skin, I require Log to file to be turned on. Without this, you always get unsaved track save messages popping up wich then requires saving. This breaks the normal exit and you are forced to kill ozi.

I'm pretty sure Log to Memory/Map should be off.

If we want to save all features (waypoint, route, comment, etc) based on system date/time, I could do that with AutoIT fairly easily as well... that runs in system tray and could be called before quitting as well.

Does the external app sound the way to go to save those tracks? Let me know and I'll see how I go tomorrow (I often wake up before my wife as well), simpler the better the command line won't be resource hungry...

Guys, just an update, Bugger has the skin done and I have completed the OziSave program that saves the tracks and waypoints.

Problem is that I can't yet work out how to run the program from within RR, so have to solve that before we can release a version. However if I run it outside of rr, the files are saved. Hopefully Bugger will have more luck than me on this bit. If we can get that solved, I am hoping that it won't be too much drama to return all of Ozi's nav data and Odeometers to RR but that will be Version 2.

UncySpam, welcome aboard. I looked at the EEPC myself as an option. There is a very active forum here:
http://forum.eeeuser.com/ and you can get touch screens off eBay for them. www.gamedude.com.au up here have them for about the $400 mark. Some people have fitted a bluetooth dongle internally. Jaycar has a mini BT dongle that you could coerce into the EEE pc case. Then I would have hardwired a bluetooth GPS receiver into the car. Details all on the forum above. I thought I could strap a board with some velcro on it to the open ashtray and stick the PC onto the velcro. Would have been much cheaper than my project, about the same cost as the monitor alone.

Quick update for everyone...

Rod and I've run into some problems with the OziSave program which is supposed to look after saving waypoints etc to file. We hoped to have V1.0 of the skin out by the end of this weekend but this will depend on the success of fixing OziSave.

You'll hear it here when the release is made.

Sorry about this guys. The OziSave progam I wrote which works on two PC's in sunny QLD does not play nicely down south on Justins PC. I need to add some detailed error logging to a file so he can track down what is sending it off the rails south of the border. See how I go over the next couple of days...
