Kevin,
16-pin OBD connector is a prerequisite for OBD-II compliance. If your car doesn't have one, unfortunately you cannot use an OBD-II scan tool to get information from the vehicle.

Hi, I have a Fiat Bravo 1.4 1998 and I want to read ECU, I dont know what protocol it is.
But I know its a 3 pin connector, I have recently purchased an adapter lead for it 3 pin to 16 pin OBD .Can you recommend a palm scanner that will work with my car, I want to spend about a £100. But I would also like the scanner to cover all OBDs and protocols on most other cars including vag for vw and audi. Any info please would be most appreciated.
Thanks
kevin
