    my point exactly mate. Use the lm7805c. its real simple to hook up and its way cheap. Its just input 12V, ground, and output 5V.Hook it up to your car battery and you're done!

    I say try using the LM7805C voltage regulator. Or you could get a hub that does not require any external power. It takes its power from the pc.

    Point taken regarding the temp. I don't know which type you are using. I have installed one of these..(below). they seem to handle up to 1.5A and you can add a heatsink. :peace:

    lm7805

    Another voltage regulator you could use is the lm7805. Its cheap and if voltage between 5-20V is applied the output voltage is a constant 5V.
