i didn't think fairladies had speedos in MPH, so I'm thinking it's not an LHD conversion... Unless he put some crazy work into it, which if he did, I'd love to see pics.

OK, fairlady is a NAME. Infact a name of many cars. Not just the 90-96 (US) based Z's.
Yes, they did change the name once it hit the US market. All Z's are imported from Japan. WOW, they change the name of it and I can no longer call it a Fairlady?

No, but it's not really being true to the name. The fairlady name is used in Japan, and using it here assumes that the car is a true JDM. However there are only small differences in the two (other than the obvious RHD.) so it's not as big a difference compared to when someone gets an old school (90's) mitsu mirage and puts evo emblems on it, or something like that.

Typically people do that to make it look like their car is better than it really is. (If I put SHO emblems on my V6 Taurus for example.) Your car is built right and built well, and there's not much that the Fairlady Z would have over your car.

Again, love the install, love the car, forget about all this talk about ebay emblems, and keep building this awesome car.

HI Guys.....Actually your comparisons and not true to the argument. the difference between a regular taurus and an SHO is NOT the same difference between a fairlady and a 300zx ....its more like the difference between an NA 300zx and a tt 300zx. There is no real difference between a 300zx and a fairlady z other than the drivers side is opposite ....sooooo more power to you solo. I love the fairlady. i have one too that i will be doing a tt swap on then i will put the mother of all carputers in with real time turbo tuning and all. check out the videos of the swap here scroll down for the swap videos.

Now to comment on your instal....I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very clean install ...you do the whole z32 community proud . keep up the good work

that's what I was saying, the difference between his Z and the Fairlady is a small difference, whereas the difference between my LX and the SHO is more than just an engine. So it's more true for him to put fairlady emblems on his Z than if I put SHO emblems on my LX, unless I were to swap the yamaha v8 into it, and perform all the other mods...

Hmm, so many stories about "Fairlady Z". IIRC, it's a name given to the earlier sport car Datsuns in the late 60's by MR K who headed up the US portion of Datsun. The Datsun 2000 I believe. This name plate was added to the 2000 logo on the car as well and this car was only available in Japan. When Datsun decided to bring the sports car to North America it carried the name of 240Z (in 1970) since it was percieved that the name "Fairlady Z" would not make for a good seller. This has carried up til the present where the North American imports of later gen Z's did not carry the "Fairlady Z" logo. It didn't make these Z's any different than their Japanese counterparts. It has nothing to do with the idea that they are slight different appointments and options between the J Spec and USDM Z's. That is just happenstance and is very common amoungst all Japanese cars that exported. It was merely a situation that Japan retained the use of the additional nameplate of Fairlady Z on their own soil for all of their Z's. Most people over time (myself included) associate the term of Fairlady Z as depicting a J-Spec Z which can be correct in a sorted way. I imagine the use of that term will still be one of future discussion.
