my car: 2003 g35 coupe, 2.5ghz c2d cpu, gigabyte micro atx mb, dsatx
wife's car: 2004 honda accord coupe 2.4ghz p4 cpu, asus micro atx mb, opus 150
company car: 2006 chevy avalanche 2.0ghz p4 laptop, cnx p1900
its a lite-on external drive. I had to drill a hole in the bottom for the power cable to sit in because if you leave it sitting on the bottom it will be too tall.
How well does the DVD drive work sitting vertically like that? I have a laptop drive in a similar configuration that is a little *flacky* and I was wonderiing if the orientation had anything to do with it.

How do you tell which drives are the *good* drives? Price along doesn't get you one....

Trial and error. Read reviews and such. And usually price is a good indicator. I have the K06 or something like that, and its a CD/DVD burner and DVD-RAM drive. (slim slot load of course). Cost me $90 and $10 for the external case. Works perfectly. You can bounce around with it while it is reading something and it will be fine. Of course not while burning, but it works.
