they don't bother me, what are they going to do? give me a ticket? hasn't happened yet, if I get a ticket then I'll just add it to the cost of the project

I'd have to get multiple tickets, & have some severe harassment to even consider removing tint's or worrying about a video rearview mirror, again, hasn't happened yet.

the minivan was a lot less conspiquous(yeah right, I can spell that) though, so I don't know.... there was a cop shot around here a few months ago & now the cops are on the warpath about tints, I just avoid the checkpoints

I was under the understanding that if you have deep tint, the cops just want you to put all your windows down so they can assess the situation and prevent entering a dangerous one by being able to see all the occupants and potential threats. I'm not sure what the law is on it, but the point of the law is for the safety of the officer right?

Now, the whole thing with the rear mirror in blocked vehicles (example box vans, etc) is pretty darn stupid; the mirror will show the back wall... and how is that supposed to make it safer to drive? Sometimes you gotta wonder the real motives to the laws that are passed.

well, i put plates on her last night, drove it for the first time... man, these trucks are nice... I love the way it drives...

just about ready for the mp3car meet tommorow not 100% finished, but I just can't hold out any longer..., this is one of the fastest builds I've done in a while, 7 weeks total interior & exterior... maybe not all details completed, but pretty much there, I'd say over 90% done....

you can buy flat sheets if you want, it's probably easier than melting it flat...

yea, I would try to find something to start with rather than trying to make my own sheet, never tried that really, you may be able to melt scraps in an oven on a cookie sheet, but the smell would be crazy

yeah, thats what i was thinking..

the reason i want to know.., is that i have access to well over 100lbs of ABS (in the form of Projection TV cabinets), and i dont wanna just throw it away. Granted i could just keep the cabinets, btu they take up a lot of room, so i though about melting them flat..

or into cubes or some other manageable shape

Most mirror and tint laws are in place to make visibility for the driver optimal and safer for everyone. They usually dont take into account exceptions and so you have so weird issues (like a useless rearview etc)

As long as you can drive the vehicle safely and the cops dont bother you (much) pretty much anything goes. The only issue on top of all that is inspection (if your state has it) but for the most part you can pay a gas station to "inspect" the car and just get a new sticker...

As for the ABS, if you can find yourself an electric kiln, you could do it outside... (so the smell dosen't kill you) but i think getting it out of whatever pan it is in might be a pain...
