Awesome work, Turbo. Loved the overhead step by step, too bad I already did my crude version for my Zenarc. Anyways, I'm thinking of redoing it already, so nice to see you using aluminum picture frames! What is that putty? How long does it take to cure? When do you start sanding it? What paint/texture did you use?

You know what? You should have your own TV show!! Just like overhaulin' just more DIY and tech oriented...great!

    Simply amazing work, man, congrats!

Also, I see a gap on the overhead on the sides. I have the same gap on mine, just smaller. I think it due to the plastic losing it's shape, I didn't put the weight on it, and I suppose you hang the frame on the roof? Did you find a solution to close the gap and fix the console on the headliner? I'm thinking about just tape, double sided tape or velcro, it's just cosmetic really, but I watch it everyday and it drive me nuts! LOL

hey man, just added to your rep to get rid of that red mark

this stuff is a composite material, very lightweight, so much so that it floats on water when cured, yet it's very strong & rigid when cured... it's almost like plastic, but sands beautifully & silky smooth, it's a great thing to play with, easy to work with & there are just so many things that you could do with it... it is ridgid, not flexable at all when cured...

for paint I used a sem aerosol vinyl spray, very decent match color wise, but now that I switched out my interior I have to redo all the upper stuff & headliner in black so I'll have to respray it when I do that... you can sand this stuff the next day, it takes a long time to cure & you can work with it & even final shape it for hours, very easy to work with & adheres very well to most substances

Some really amazing work - Followed you from the IS board, figured you'd be on here.

I have the same wideband ( no installed) and was wondering how you extended the wires for the zeitronix display? Also did you just hot glue them?

Just because I may decide to drop the FX. would you share your exact suspension setup and how you modded the rear so that the ride is as solid as you describe it?

    Thanks!

wow, funny, I was typing my response when you posted & I never even saw this post

on my overhead assy the plastic trim screws to the metal frame from inside & they mount as one piece, in that shot there still not screwed togeather though, when it's fully assembled it fits tight like it should. I made the whole frame attach to the roof with one hidden screw, but it's very solid, I mounted an aluminum cross beam to the roof that it screws to, next time I drop it I'll get you few better shots of how it all goes togeather for you, I think I mentioned in the past to that I wanted to show you what I was doing here, might give you some ideas for yours

the zietronix was easy to extend, just soldered long wires between the 2 boards, the hot glue is a high temp type to not get very soft even in a hot parked car, but it's only to hold the wires all in place till everythings installed anyway, kinda like extra bracing for the wires so they can't get pulled at there solder joints.

I did a thread on my suspension mods at the scene here . also got to take her out to pocono raceway & track test her, she did very well & handles & rides great. even the race instructor who drove the fx a bunch of laps was pretty impressed. more info in that thread

May I dare you to try to mod your headlights into LEDs? I think they look awesome, and would add even more exclusivity for you, if what you have is not exclusive enough already!! LOL

You can find LED for the Escalade Platinum for about $1900, but with your sources, I think you could find them for less.

    Doable?

Headlight LEDs get very very hot. Also there output is less than HIDs. And the worst part is all the projectors including the Lexus 600h are pretty crappy when compared to some of the nice projectors like the S2000, LS430, RX350 and so on. It would be a major step backwards and be expensive...

Oh, they get hot too? Didn't know that. Strange.

I also thought that the technology was there to make them brighter than HIDs. Maybe not. They're sure durable, and instant-on, right? But if they're not brighter, then why reallly?
