Nonetheless, that is a radical overhaul in progress. Ever think of adding afterburners, maybe to add some extra thrust ? I could look into some tan-colored G-suits to match your interior... :plane:
Very honest advice by the way, agreed that nothing speaks truer than hands-on experience and the will to succeed. However, there is still something to be said about having access to the right facilities and tools to practice with (but perhaps that falls into your previous message as well).
It's interesting that you mention being rich, money-wise. Personally, this is an ongoing debate that goes on in my mind from time to time and I imagine also for most head-strong creative people out there who have real-world wants and needs (monks are not included). Make what you want or make a lot of money and buy what you want ? That is the question. I would like to take a moment and expand on what you said. This topic ties into the psychological aspect of attempting and completing the kind of work you've set out to do on your own in this thread (so it's pretty relevant I think at least in a broader sense). You emphasize your mental grit and resilience when approaching these tasks, one would have to assume that you are very well-organized, at least in your mental preparation. When beginning a new project, following visualization, the bulk of your time appears to be invested in research and planning. The more experience one has, the less time spent doing research. This is conversely true as well. So, it would be safe to assume that the research alone needed for someone without any experience to attempt to do what you're doing would be unrealistic without any prior experience or knowledge and considering a realistic time-frame. Which brings us to the next point: motivation.
Certainly, the drive and ambition that a person invests into achieving their goals at 99-100% is proportional to the end result, and remains true for every type of human endeavor. In the same way that an investment banker or business person sets financial goals with the expectation of making a minimum return on investment in the form of profits, you set out to do the same except that your form of profit is in the shape of a cooler, much much faster, custom-engineered, more intelligent and convenient car. The difference as you mentioned is in that you derive your pleasure and satisfaction from building cars, whereas someone concerned with profits will derive their pleasure from seeing their bank account grow. Same coin, different side. And personally, I would have to side with you on this one. And it goes without saying, how "well" you achieve your goals is directly proportionate to the amount of energy and time invested. Another way of looking at it (and unless you are indeed Warren Buffet) is that, as you mentioned, if you were rich you could just buy all this cool stuff and not have to worry about making it. However, in the end there is little left to appreciate - after all that hard-earned money is spent, that is. Ever notice how Warren Buffet still drives a Buick with a personal net worth of over 30 billion dollars ? Or how the founder of IKEA, Ingvar Kamprad (net worth 22 billion), drives an old Volvo ? Well, it's true (however only about 5% believable :)). Their happiness comes from the money itself, which is exactly why they don't spend it ! Because in the end, we all just want to be happy. And happiness comes in many shapes, forms and colors... in this particular case in the shape form and color of a highly modified, pearl black FX35 soon to have many many horses powering it :) -- which is not to say that one endeavor requires more physical and mental investment than the other. On the contrary, to do them well, both are equally challenging in their own regards, and from a physio-psychological standpoint, most likely equally satisfying. But slightly more satisfying in your case I'm inclined to say since you can actually touch it. And drive it... fast :mod:. At this moment, my happiness is derived from looking at your cool pictures. And one day I'll begin my own project. All baby steps to get there. But the first step is still knowing what makes you or I really happy. Only from there can you can draw the motivation needed to actually move ahead and "do it", and if you believe in yourself enough, attain any realistic goals you choose to put your mind to ("realistic" as defined by the aforementioned elements of succes: motivation, energy, time, experience and knowing your actual limitations as oppose to inventing them). Sound about right to you ?
Not exactly the place for this kind of discussion, but it seemed to tie in with the bigger picture (I stress "seemed"). Nothing like a bit of macro to take a look at the big picture every now and then ;)

Dude that is a sick turbo install, nice fabrication and design. I'd put money on your symmetrical build working VERY well. Looks balanced, how it should be, I see exactly where your going with the intake tubes too ;)
keeping everything symetrical & equal length in this setup was very tricky... too bad I couldn't get my hands on mirror imaged turbo's, but not so practical to do that without a huge budget so this had to be made symetrical even though the turbo's aren't...
