in the mean time I've been adding a lot of tooling to my home garage and now have a lot more abilities than I did before, so the build will now wind up being even more custom, got a mill and a lathe and a bunch of other stuff so I can fabricate a lot more stuff in general... planning a lot of custom aluminum work and stuff in the front end, hopefully I'll update this soon with some actual progress
no worries... i have been building my 69 mustang since my cobra wreck... over 3 years ago... just now planning to get the carpc / tablet build under way!!! life happens!

And I just caught up with your ST5111. I guess its time to switch mine again, too.

yeah, the st5111 never even winded up making it into the dash, still the earlier stwhateveritwas model in there... might go with the st5111 I guess, or honestly, lately I've been really loving the trouble free and instant on of the android tablet in my new car... might even consider android for this one, maybe a hybrid android head with a pc backbone for the best of both worlds... still have some time to figure it out

Ever considered the raspberry pi as a solution? Especially now with the upgrade to ice? Could be a first like so many of your other projects.

My ST5111 was a disappointment! Its faster, bigger harddrive, better video, BUT they mucked with the audio drivers and removed the internal audio recorder...AAARRRGGGGHHH!!!!!!!!!!

I would consider an Android tablet as soon as they figure out how to implement USB accessories (I'm up to 12 USBs right now and that's without the second Fusion Brain).

Hope to see some updates on this awesome project! Android software handles USB just fine, it's the hardware makers that are not putting the ports on (unless you get a cheap super pad, those have USB ports)

Really? I'd love to see the Fusion Brain, HD Radio, USB Microphone, etc support... where have you found this?
