    Update : 12/26/08

My HDD failed again for a second time. It boots up pass the BIOS, shows the STARTING WINDOWS XP message, then blank... Fortunately, all my videos and musics are stored on another USB 250GB removable HDD.

I have decided to get a SSD (Solid State Drive) instead, I just bought the OCZ Core Series V2 OCZSSD2-2C30G 2.5" 30G from ebay ($119 New): http://www.ocztechnology.com/product...ata_ii_2_5-ssd where I will just install the OS and some application like iGuidance, winamp etc...
Will keep you updated once I install it...

cool install, on the headrest monitor, how did you get it to display w/o trashing the picture? I know you used a video card, but I thought it still has problems showing windows desktop and web browsing clear. I just use on board video on my carputer, the way my micro-atx is design, I have no room for cards. I might have to just use vga monitors in the headrest instead of regular lcd monitors.
That is true, the headrest LCD monitors do not display pictures and fonts clearly, but the videos looks pretty good. I don't use it for web browsing or anything else, just watching videos.
Does the speakers reset when you shut down the system, in other words does it go back to factory.
The speakers do not reset at all, they keep the last settings before shut down. The only thing is that the volume goes back to 0 sometimes, but not a big deal.

Here is the new 30GB SSD HDD that I put in about 3 months ago, and so far it's been running great (touching wood), the boot time into windows also improved. I did not apply any modification to the HDD as per OCZ forum for performance boost. Only the OS and some applications are installed into that SSD, all my mp3s and videos are into a USB HDD.

Hopefully the SSD will keep you going......even with the realative low cost of traditional drives it is a pain to reload the OS and drivers every time there is a failure....great install BTW!

WOW, very impressive install.... I love how the screen looks like it should be there..... Now as far as the SSD is concerned.... I think the only optimizing I would do is turn off page files in the operating system.... I heard this increases speed of the drive, and saves space. Only thing is you have to have at least 1 gig of RAM and up, otherwise leave page files alone if you don't have alot of RAM. I am so anxiously waiting my SSD drive, my setup has alot of devices and that adds a ton of time to the boot, plus Windows and then CF, and its slow, about 50 seconds from cold boot. From Hibernation, about 15-20 seconds. I was also plagued with alot of blue screens of death, and one time a no OS found screen. I had my drive extended using sata extensions, when I decided to move the drive back close to the PC blue screens dropped dramatically. I still get one at least once a week. It says its a memory dump issue, which I think is the page file or something not going to the HDD correctly.

Also, as far as the audio, are you using the Logitech speakers, or did you simply connect the logitech controller device to your car speakers?

good to see the pc is still going strong. Have you heard about the Mp3car BBQ meet in Baltimore this sunday? You should show up! I've been hyping up your audio setup at the last few NOVA meets.
