What size screen is that? doesn't really look 'natural' in that spot as it seems too big. You going to remove it from the case and mount it back behind the door there?

Nice infinity wish I could afford one. Instead, I have to settle for a lower end Maxima...which is still an awsome car compared to what I used to have.

The screen is a Xenarc 700TSV fitted into a digitalwheelz/mp3car infiniti custom housing. The screen can manually be retracted back into the cubby and the cubby lid shut to give a completely stock look. Other than the sides to the left and right back of the screen exposing the innards of the custom housing, the screen looks pretty stock IMO. I am finishing the trunk rack for the pc tonight. I will post some more pics when I am done.

    Regards,

    trunk

I put it in the trunk... building out the rack for it tonight. I figured 99% of the time I won't need access to the dvd drive while driving. If I do, the rear seat comes down and a passenger could get at it.

The housing matches, but what I was referring to is that it just looks odd to me that it is taller than the lid when out. Cool that it retracts back though. Do you get much glare on it mounted that way?

It does stick above the lid a little bit... wouldn't really want a screen smaller than 7", guess that is how the cookie crumbles.

I was a bit frustrated with mp3car with this custom housing. They forgot to include the necessary magnet mount that keeps the screen stuck to the lid (you can see we used magnet tape on both the lid lip and the back of the screen). Also was missing some screws needed to bolt the housing to the head unit rack, as the OEM bolts didn't fit the holes in the new housing/cubby replacement. So after driving back and forth to Lowes about 50 times during the install, we finally got it all in. On the plus side, I have always been able to get ahold of mp3car support and Naqueal has been great to work with in that respect. Also, i realize that this housing is hard to come by, so I am happy to have a prefab'ed solution versus having to create something myself.

The glare isn't bad, but i have noticed some cases when in direct sunlight that it is less than perfect. The custom housing only works with the older xenarc screens, so i was kinda pigeon holed into that option.

Conversely, I refuse to pay $700 for a 7" touchscreen (mp3 cars daylight readable screen), so the Xenarc was my best option sub $500. I work in flash all day creating touchscreen kiosks. We buy 42" LCD touchscreens with the computer built in for ~ $3000, so I refuse to pay almost a grand for a 7" touchscreen with no computer. When the price point comes down to $500 or less I would consider it. Not that i will even have that option with this housing... </rant>

not sure how technical you are, but check out the 3M upgrades thread in the LCD/Displays forum. I have a lilliput 701 screen and the difference of sunlight readability before and after I upgraded the screen with the 3M films is literally night and day. If it weren't for the glare of the touchscreen, I can see the screen in direct sunlight perfectly fine.

And I agree... upwards of $700 is a bit steep for a sunlight readable screen.

    3m

I will look into the 3M upgrades... probably wait till after winter however.

I had two IT-related internships with 3M so I can get some good deals still. :-)

here's my results from the 3M upgrades to the lilliput 701 screen. Before the 3M films, the screen was crap in daylight and direct sunlight. I still have a glare problem which I'm hoping to be able to order some 3M anti-glare films for, but as far as seeing it in direct sunlight I couldn't ask for much more of an improvement. Fully readable (except for the glare off the touchscreen) even with brightness at only 30-40%.

    3m upgrades

I got the films as samples so the upgrade just cost some of my time and patience. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a full sheet of the anti-glare (ARMR-200) as a sample, just a piece big enough for my blackberry
