Wow, there's lots of cool pictures in there. I also saw that dyno, those Mustang dyno's give out low numbers! What all have you done engine wise? I think I remember your dyno going from 290-something to 340-something.

Also, where did you get that Firehawk emblem from? I ordered a few like 8 months ago from some place and still haven't got them. I doubt they'll ever come...

Yeah I kinda take a few pics. I figure when I have kids, I'll have something to show them.... The Mustang was a 97GT, 215HP stock (which sucks for them! lol) and all he had was prochamber, mufflers and CAI. My little brother's Grand Prix GTP put down similar numbers, similar mods and even had a better 1/4 mile time, lol. My car had a Grantelli MAF on it when I bought it and the engine was pinging at high RPMs. I put the stock one back on and picked up 20-30HP (I don't remember). Plus I ran it at the track before and after the MAF-issue and picked up .2! I ended up with 316RWHP & 340ft/lbs torque. Other than a lid, no cats, cutout, 200+lbs of stereo and a 3400 stall I still run 12.91 @ 105, which I'm content with for another year till it's paid off.

I actually made the emblem. When I first got the car I drew (ahem, traced) the Firehawk lettering in AutoCAD and I have access to a vinyl cutter so I cut it out there. It was a PITA to find that purple color (3M calls it rasberry) for the swoosh. If you want, I can export the CAD drawing to a JPG and email it to you? It's all drawn 100% to scale. You can take the file to a sign shop and get them to cut you one out, or you can buy a couple feet of vinyl and print it out on paper and cut it out with an Exacto knife.

So what have you done to your engine? Any interior/exterior mods yet?

Right now the engine is stock, and the only performance mods I have are a lid, 4.10's, and a cutout. Although here in a couple weeks I'll be putting a new cam and LT headers on her . The cam is a TR 230/224 111LSA, which is supposed to be good for mid to high RPM power.

For the interior, really all I have is the CarPC and a really nice system. I've been reluctant to cut into the car or do anything to crazy. And external wise, I bought some Corsa clone exhaust tips which turned out nice, and then re-did the Firebird and Trans AM/Pontiac lettering on the back, in white. I want to do something like this:

Yeah, that'd be cool if you emailed me your firehawk emblem. So where do I take it to get it made? My email is: [email protected]

The cam will wake the hawk up for sure, plus a full exhaust! You keeping the SLP muffler? I personally love mine and even more so since the cats are gone. Actually has some throat to it, yet still pretty quiet. Flip of a switch, cutout opens and straight exhaust gets dumped with no restrictions! I like the rear filler, though mine was faded so I sanded and polished it blank. Emailing you the file now, just bring it to a sign shop (place that makes local signs around the area, usually with vinyl decals) around there, should be able to find several of them.

I'm keeping the stock exhaust from my cutout back. That way I can get as quiet as possible with the cutout closed. I'm going to run open headers/cat back with the cam for a little bit, because that's the loudest it'll ever be . Do you get the error got P0171 and P0174 (system running too lean)? I keep getting that I think because of my cutout.

I saw in that email that you work at like an engineering company, does the Elec stand for electrical? I'm curious because I'm in school right now studying to be an electrical engineer.

That's the MAF. Pull it out and clean it, and make sure it doesn't have the resistor mod. It's soldered on the inside back like SLP does.

One more thing: An SLP tech told me with the resistor mod, you'll trip the lean on idle condition when the weather gets cold, but it's not dangerous. I just tweaked it a little. Someday I'll tune it with new VE tables, but it's not a big deal.

Andy: Yep, that stands for electrical. I'm an Instrument/Electrical designer. I graduated with a BS in electrical technology and an AS in instrument technology. Basically a step down from an engineer. IMO, I'd much rather design systems for the industrial area than to just spec out the instruments. To me, it's alot more fun figuring out how everything will layout and work, how to get power and analog/discrete signals, size cable, and in all for everything to work properly over just reading to make sure the instrument or pump will work with the said fluid or elevation.

snmnetwork: I got it at Hancock fabrics. I'm not sure if they're nationwide, but any fabric store would have it. I bought one yard of it for $5.xx and I could redo it 8-10x if I wanted.

It's the optional hawk spoiler that came only on T/As in 2000. Only 114 or so were made with the spoiler and after they made those I read that SLP destoryed the mold because they were alot more difficult to make.
