Well as far as the floor vent is concerned, there seemed to be slight airflow when the dash vents were selected, but were pushing a ton of air when floor was selected. So I decided to stuff a sock in the vent. Well, an old rag, actually.
I guess I'll see how that works out.
Nah, I'll give it a shot with the blocked vent. I don't have a need to supply the rear seats with hvac anyway, as I never have any rear seat passengers.
BTW, I wedged the GPS between the windshield and dash on the passenger-side. It's an Earthmate that I had from my previous install, painted black. Originally I was going to bury it in the dash, but it wasn't getting a satellite lock there; on the dash it's working just fine.
Ok, but does that mean if you forget to turn it off, it will stay on and drain youre battery?
And By the Way, sweet install man!
Thank you! =)
The short answer to your question is "no."
The DSATX (and others, such as Opus) PSU has an integrated startup/shutdown controller, so it will turn the PC on and off with the vehicle. On the DSATX, many features, including shutdown delay are adjustable (via the optional "Brainstem").
Awesome cheers for the info, im gonna get something like that, then use molex to power front and rear two screens!
What FE are you using?
The front-end I'm using is Centrafuse; probably not a bad idea to include the rest of my PC's specs in a post...
Screen: Xenarc 700TS
Motherboard: Insight P4-ITX
Processor: P4 2.0 GHz
Memory: 512MB
Hard Drive: 2.5" 80GB
Front End: Centrafuse
PSU: DSATX 220W
USB Hub: D-Link 7-Port
GPS: Delorme Earthmate
Keyboard: Zippy EL-610
I think that's about it fow now...
Thanks for posting the pics of the 06 bezel in the dash.... looks like there is a slight difference in color, not to bad, but enough to notice. Unfortunatly, the wife who drives our Jeep daily isn't going to like that <g>.
I did find a place online who offers the '07 bezel for $98.00, shipping included (Airpark Chrysler Jeep). Darn good deal since most places are selling it for $140+!
As for overheating and under the seats, have you really ruled out the possibility of placing the computer elsewhere? Take a look under the rear seat bench --- you'll be suprised how much room is under there if you've never looked!
P.S. Back on the bezel, what did you use to fill in the gaps from the stock opening to the screen's opening? I saw the picture of like a plastic tray, but wasn't sure if that's what you used or what it was.
