looks like you're ready for the streets/beach. one more thing *XZibit pops your collar*, your ride has officially been pimped!
i really like the recessed lighting. tell us more about your frontend.
Hi sedtc, you asked for some info on my fron-end,
Well, after trying out various front-ends and not being 100% happy with them, I decided to write my own. So I started learning VB.NET. 15 months later I have my own front-end. It uses Winamp for the MP3 decoder and for DVD and media player, I use an embedded Windows Media Player. I have a Silib labs USB radio and this works really well with the USBRadio.dll. It has RDS data etc. Looks really professional.
I have a Netgear wireless receiver which I use in my front-end to update MP3 files from my main computer in the house when I park in my drive.
I have my carPC boot directly into my front-end and with a lot of tweaks in the Windows registry I stop most of the Windows XP stuff from being visible during boot up to make a more professional look. The whole system boots up in just under a minute and with the use of the ATX2 shutdown controller, the machine will go into standby when the ignition is switched off. If the ignition is switched on within 2 hours, the carPC resumes from standby and music is heard within 5 seconds.
I am currently working on a reversing camera. I have built a small control circuit which takes the 12 volt reversing signal from the van which pulses a relay and is connected to the keyboard input of the PC. This simulates the 'r' key being pressed and switches to the 'reversing' screen of my front-end. There will be a USB webcam in the back door of the van which displays on my screen.
