There is a wire on the stereo harness that triggers the antenna. It's currently hanging inside the dash doing nothing. Will figure something out when I remove the display for repair/repainting.
i always thought the antenna just sensors a current and raises by itself. All you need to do is get the right adapters to connect to it. But i might be wrong.
Continued Worklog... Upgrades in progress:

The Evoscan arrived today, and I have just given it a shot, and, well, I don't think I have it configured right.
Installed the software on my PC, plugged it in and the interior lights start flickering. I started the car, and the flickering stopped (WTF?) and hit the connect button. The software connected, and bringing up one of the default dashboards showed the rev counter showing the correct RPM (updating several times a second by the looks of it).
Main problem no is with the cable connected, the park and neutral lights flash on the dash, as does the TCL off light.
Any thoughts? Might stick a post in the OBD forum...

I noticed that you have changed the original woodgrain dash to a black coloured frame.Did you have problems fitting the screen to the existing dash? I am about to embark on a similar project and my biggest concern is to integrate the TFT screen with the existing dash.
