There is no hardware brightness control, but if you installed the imon software the lcd brightness can be set through there. I set mine slightly under default settings so while readability suffers a little bit during the day, it looks pretty good at night.
I loaded the latest Imon software and it still only gives me brightness contrast. Not a lot of good when the display is way to dark to start with. But found it was perfect for night, so not going to look that gift horse in the mouth.
Posted on their BBS that they might be ignoring a possible revenue stream with mobile computing and they really needed to do something about the brightness. While I don't really care if I can see the display during the day, with all the buttons and stuff programed, it's like a "stock" feel. No display hurts that "feel'.

You know, I don't think I have really complimented your car. It really does look nice. I wish mine could just stay clean for a few days. As a traveller (this past week was at 1000 miles), mine will never get there. Think when this one is paid off I'll go buy another one "just to drive on weekends". And then have ANOTHER carputer that will never be finished.
I really like those speaker / amp casings that go in the back, but then I wouldn't have any place for my suitcase.

I decided to see how good I am.
Just bought the fiberglass kit and I have an old burnt up stock radio (the original that I replaced with a bose). Going to see if I can fit the Imon, DVD, 4 Port hub for the front, another hub for the imon, front hub, and dvd to plug into near the back (may just use a 7 port like i have now), and an andrea mic inside the housing. Then form the face to look somewhat stock. I may not do the mic as andrea is directional.
One thing is for sure.......after a week of using the Imon, I'll never go without one. Touchscreen is nice, but having buttons just above the shifter....perfect! Are you going to do a review on the Imon? I'm waiting to see if I get a response from them on the brightness issue. (yes, I am tough on EVERYONE's tech/customer support.....even on products I love).

Be careful when trying to jam stuff in there, the more crowded it is, the less pretty it's going to be. No matter how much you try to make it look perfect you're eyes will always be able to find the imperfections - just try to minimize it and it'll look fine.
Probably not. Until i customize it's use to every single external app & function (which honestly, i don't have time to do - it's only controlling gps, dvd & roadrunner right now) I probably won't have enough info to make an accurate review.
Well, pretty much ready for a fiberglass overlay and paint. You were right about not going with too much. I put the DVD on top (where the mode buttons were on radio) and went with only 1 USB port on the left side. Think it's going to look great! Been doing pictures since the guts were taken out of the radio. I'll post them once I know I was successful. lol
Think I was able to keep enough of the DVD area top and bottom to have the curve across the face and a slot in the middle (will use 4 garbage cds to make the entrance in the FG), then from the bottom of the dvd, taper down to flat for the ultrabay. Hard to explain, but I think you mentioned this before. Going to lose my eject button, but think it will look better. Wonder if the autolaunch can be trained as an eject? hmmmm
Oh yeah, I recessed the USB about 1/2 an inch so it will either "look" hidden or I can create a cover for it.
Do you have a keystroke map for RR? Wondering how much of RR you are controlling.
