Did you know you can buy a factory piece from japan that will house your LCD as well as fold down?
I have it in my Speed6.

Before I started my carputer project, I put a new audio setup in my car. The Mazdaspeed6 comes with a Bose audio system that sounds nice enough, but was not nearly loud enough, especially when I had the sunroof open and all the windows down on the highway. Several posters on the Mazda6Club forums have noted that the head unit on the Bose systems outputs pretty good quality, reasonably flat response signals at line level. So I decided to put new amps and speakers in the car.
Inspired by this thread: Chris' Mazdaspeed6 Stereo Install I built an amplifier rack for the back of the trunk, and put RAAMMat noise dampener and Ensolite foam in the doors (a gigantic pain and lots of work, but very worth it). Then I removed the Bose amp and spliced the head unit outputs to the inputs of the amps. I prefer a stock look for the interior, so I did not change the speaker grills, but I did run new, heavier gauge speaker wire for the speakers (another huge pain, and not so much worth it). I used Infinity component speakers in the front and Blaupunkt coaxial speakers in the rear.
The pictures show the amp rack installed and my 12" Rockford Fosgate Sub. Behind the amp rack and between it and the back seats I mounted the stiffening capacitor and the wire distribution terminals, so that I could remove the amp rack without having to work the wires back through the holes under the amps so the wiring wouldn't look like a rat's nest.
There's still plenty of room for my golf clubs behind the sub, even though it doesn't look like it!
Any day is a good day for golf.

Yeah, I've seen it. If I remember right it was quite expensive. I'm a little concerned about long term reliability with all the gears and moving parts as well. How long have you had yours?

Like that you have used a Powermate in your install, I have one in mine and I find it absolutely essential. Great job mate!
Looking at your radio - what Aux input solution did you settle on? I'm using AuxMod that runs in through the tape deck connector, so my display always says "Tape Playing". Yours says EX888, so are you going in through the Sat Radio port? Which adapter is it?
