I got the exact same problems with my 2nd Gen. Xenarc MDT X7000 ... But am getting used to it

I had an issue when the computer turns-off the screen because of in-activity and Xenarc screen won't pick-up the signal when I touch the screen (so I turned off the screen turn-off from the power options and the screen saver options).

I do have the Rear Only audio issue, but I will try to increase or decrease the fade and balance and give it a try ... the first time it happened i was playing around with the audio settings

apart from that, the screen is doing fine

    Back for repair...

FYI, I had to send my second-gen MDT-X7000 (described in the worklog above) back to Xenarc for repair. One day, it stopped moving during extension, and never recovered (I'd been able to clear this condition before with a power cycle); Xenarc sent me an RMA in < 24 hours and I should have the unit back tomorrow (turnaround about 3 weeks).

I'm looking forward to seeing if the replacement has different software than the returned unit - anyone have advice on how to check the firmware version?

In the meantime, I've discovered that the Ridgeline subwoofer is powered by an amp that's integral to the OEM radio, so there's no good way to use the sub without the OEM unit unless I install another amp. I'm not game for that right now, so I'm going to try something different - back to the original design: PC->Xenarc->aux in on the OEM radio. I couldn't get this working on my first install, but it's worth trying again. The looks isn't as clean, but the OEM radio (sorry, I need radio here) is much better than the Xenie and it solves the sub and steering wheel control issues. Will post updates.

Any update on these issues? I have a 2nd gen I'm writing them about right now. All the same issues.

Anyone know of a way to change that horrible background image?

Does the xenrac have a removable panel? Isn't it a bit scary it might get stolen?

One of my major concerns that led me to not buying the xenrac is putting a 700$ stereo system that can be easily stolen. Not to mention it really draws attention.

Sorry for the delay in posting - I have the replacement Xenarc, and it works fine... except that the touchscreen isn't seen by my PC as a USB device. Since I also need to hook up the audio, I've been holding off on pinging Xenarc until I have time to pull it back out and test the USB extension cable - need to make sure it's the unit and not my wiring. There is a known issue with these things where the internal USB connectors come loose, but it's not user-servicable without voiding the warranty.

Since the audio isn't hooked up, I can't easily test the wierdness I posted earlier.

I did ask Xenarc about firmware and updates, and they said (1) there's no user-accessible way to see what firmware version you have, and (2) they provide the latest firmware when you return the device for service. So I have no way to know whether the issues we've noted here are even being considered by the company.

Finally, there's no removable faceplate, and it would be easy to steal one of these units; in my Ridgeline, no tools are requires to remove the dash, so all you'd need is a Phillips screwdriver to pull the whole thing out. You could do it in a couple of minutes. The Xenarc does have a power-reset code (you need the remote to enter it), but I doubt anyone changes it from the default. Fortunately, I live in one of those places where it's not really a concern, but I probably would install a cover over this unit if I was using it in a city.

My MDT x7000 has similar issues...It would sometimes get stuck during motorization in or out and just sit there. I emailed Xenarc and they told me to just send it back...I have yet to do so (not sure how long I have to do it within...1 year?). Also it drops that USB connection often and it is hard to get the touchscreen working again. Anyone know a way of minimizing this issue? I have disabled the screensaver etc. but it still happens sometimes.

I have a question on the Xenarc MDT X7000

    Dear,
I've read your post, there is one thing I dont understand. You said that we have to provide 12V to the antenna?
I did connect ACC, Battery, Antenna to 12V, and Ground to GND, but when I turn on the power, there nothing happen. The screen just power on, with the Xenarc logo and all the button, but all the button only on for a second then off, also the fan at the back of the screen.
    Could you enlighten me?
    Thanks
