    2004 350Z Installation part 3.....

No, there wasn't any documentation of installation part 2 and it didn't work out well anyway, SO, We started over, some things stayed the same, some things didn't. One of the biggest parts that didn't stay the same was the computer itself. I posted this in another thread, but think it needs to go here instead.

*=Old build parts still in use.

    The computer:
    Motherboard: Kino 9452 R11
CPU: Intel Core 2 duo Merom, T7600 2.33ghz Socket M
    RAM: 2GB DDR2 800 (overkill, but it's what I had)
    Harddrive: Samsung 160gb Readydrive Hybrid
15in1 USB memory card reader w/CF card slot w/8gb CF "Extreme" card
    Mini-PCI broadcom 54G Wireless card
    PCI 5 port USB card

    The case:
    Casetronic C137

    The power:
    *M2-ATX

    The OTHER Tunes:
    Visteon HDZ300 w/Mitch's serial cable
    *XM Direct w/mp3car usb

    The Control:
*Soundgraph iMon Ultrabay (Antec) programmable button/knob/ir remote interface

    The Screen:
*Old Xenarc 700TSV with new touch overlay (yeah, I broke it trying to reseat)

    The Hub:
    D-Link 7 port powered 2.0 USB Hub

    The OTHER player:
    *USB DVD/CDRW in the dash

    The Diagnostics:

    The Finder (GPS):
    Microsoft GPS (Pharos)

    The Internet:
Verizon USB (720 EVDO) w/ "Hidden" 13dBi Antenna

    The Voice:
    *Andrea Superbeam stereo microphone/USBD2-A Adapter

    The Cablevision:
    Slingbox Pro

Since it is all I have current pictures of, lets start with the computer/case. These pictures are with the DVD and PCI card removed to show everythings location. Note that the 15in1 cardreader is external using internal USB connections. The board doesn't have firewire and I'm using the audio connector internally for the HQCT and Visteon, so that's why the cables are cut.

Not sure if you can see the power connectors, but they are: 3 plugs for M2-ATX, 3 plugs Ultrabay, 2 plugs for 5V to power the D-Link Hub, and 2 plugs spare.

One great thing about this mobo...audio control down to the individual speaker.

After seeing someone else put a Bose subwoofer cover over the computer for ventalation, I got motivated. Just going to post pictures right now as they are mostly self expainatory, but I'll give more detail over the next few days. Really looks a lot better than my original install. Also, finding out that GPS antennas and wifi antennas see through plastic, hiding stuff was A LOT better than the original.

Here is the location of the XM receiver, The computer in place (SOOOO much cleaner!), And hiding the Wifi antenna. It didn't work out as in the picture though. It wound up being direclty under the console on the right side. Fit pretty good and gets a strong signal in the carport. Not saying a lot when the wireless router is about 2 ft. above the car. lol

Here is the locations of the Andrea Mic, Motorola Bluetooth mic, GPS antenna location, and the 42" 13dB gain antenna location.

    And the final product......
(the reason for the touchscreen quick connect: It doesn't happen very often, but when I loose the touchscreen, it saves from having to get to the back of the computer)

Thanks! but as you can see (3rd build) and you will find, it's never finished. How is that case coming?

I have been tweaking the audio in my car and figuring out how to work the current deck I have in there (will be selling to get the carputer) I should be starting the case tomorrow. I also had to go to dinner with some family members so that took a good chunk of my day. When work is done tomorrow I will begin the case. Can you take a couple measurements for me? What is the height of the Imon and the depth. Just roughly down to the quarter inch. Also the same question on the 7" lcd you have? I have to see if I can squeeze it all in the front trim piece where my deck is currently at. I will have to do some custom work on it, but that's alright with me.

Both of them are glued and modified (making measurements difficult to impossible). The screen is a xenarc 700TSV and you should be able to get everything from

    http://www.xenarc.com

You might need to go into the xenarc store and find a replacement touch overlay to get the deminsions of just the screen. As for the imon, it is the exact size of 2 CD Roms. It's made to fit into 2 5.25" bays on a desktop. Mine is modified to fit in the old radio housing.

The iMon is made by Soundgraph (http://www.soundgraph.com)

    My modifications are here:
    http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/fabr...2004-350z.html

All I did today was add some epoxy to the back for molding, and put on a few more coats of flat black and clearcoat.
    My opinion is my own.
