The only auto security system that's compatible with a Windows PC is Clifford G4 or G5 system. The program is called Cliffnet Wizard Pro V2.1 Cliffnet data cable is what links the alarm to the PC. DEI alarms like Viper, Sidewinder and Python are DOS based and only for programming. Cliffnet does programming, monitoring and I/O controlling in a GUI.

    OBD-II scanner?

    Hi,

I'm curious about the OBD-II interface. I found an Autotap OBD-II scanner. Which one are you using in your project?

    Thanks,

    Jesse

Autotap is way over priced and requires SVGA resolution to see everything. I use www.obd-2.com tricom instead of triple combo b/c it's more compact. The software is easier to read.

is there anyway to get something like this is an old car....like a 64 mustang? Would it require an absurd amount of wiring, or is it just not worth it for a system like this?

That old a car wouldnt have the ODB interface, but everything else could be done given time and effort. Youd have to see also if your alt. can take the extra load of a computer and a stereo system, plus lights etc.

Look under the hood at the emission control tag. It will tell you if it's OBD-I or II. If it's OBD-II, then its the same as mine, VPW. VPW' generally used in GMs and is not compatible with newer Toyotas. So if you ever want to change to a newer Toyota post 98-99, then you should get one that reads VPW and ISO. The interface is located below the hand brake handle. It's either a white plug or a black plug. I hope this helps.

We just had a So Cal meet on Nov 21st. so I dont know when we'll have another meet. I'm thinking sometime in May or June. You can ask me all the questions you want at the meet. I'd be glad to answer all of them. I got the plastic from my work. My work got them from Accele electronics. you can find them at any plastic shop.
