considering you have the linksys router already in there, you can install a firmware like DD-WRT and use the router as your WiFi adapter, not to mention that the antennas on the router should get pretty good signal.
Well, I use the wifi built into the laptop. The router already has DD-WRT on it :-)
When I need internet on the road, I just tether my cell phone -- no need to futz around with wifi.

mm mm! Loving the setup. Got exactly the tools you want, this is why we do it custom
Very interested in finding out more about your LED sign solution. Nothing I can find off the shelf going to let me do the same thing, and I certainly don't have your software skills.
Is your software stand alone?
Would you share it?
Is it a standard display? Serial?

TZed:
I linked to the company that makes the display on my site, I believe. It is standard serial, 2400baud I believe. I reverse-engineered the protocol, and would have no problem sharing it.
However, I'd just post the protocol and a bit of source code on my site -- I wouldn't release an entire application ready to go. I really don't have time for that.
Cheers,

Firstly congrats on a wicked install, secondly permit to pick your brains for a small momment, i was just wondering how u managed to get the volume to increase with in car volume this is a feature i have been thinking about for a while!
Nice Av
Looking back at your site I see you have the song title going to the LED display. Kool
No I appreciate a stand alone app is a bit outside scope. But looking at the cost of those displays, so are they
Given me some nice ideas for my own project thoguh definately!
Hi Wraith,
It took some fiddling, but I figured out a formula where, at 0km/h, the volume is set to about 50%, and at 100km/h, it is 100%. Between there (like at 50km/h is 75% and so on), it slides.
My software just checks the speed of the car (via the GPS data) and then adjusts the master system volume to match.
I still have the volume knob in the front -- this speed volume thing is just like a multiplier, however.
Hope this helps,
-av
