Hi, Sorry, what is VR software? All of the software in my car PC is my own creation, with the exception of iNav iGuidance for the maps/gps.
My car's stock head unit was a crummy little basic CD player. I replaced it with a built-in screen.

lol VR is voice recicnition, and you call your self a nerd?!?! :P nah i joke, but yeah i would love to have VR, that was one of the things i was gonna miss about my current deck that i have, i didnt wanna loose my VR. Idk about such a bulky mic though, but if it has no feedback, im def interested, allota car mics get allota feed back from the speakers and it drives the VR system nuts and anybody you talk to on the phone with.
I am sorry if I am posting this in error - I want to get more info about your power supply and closer pictures of it/how you wired it in. I scanned through this thread but didnt see anything about it. Imay have just missed it
I am a nerd and to me VR is Virtual Reality, the failed 90's tech that was all the rage and not all that good. :-)
Anyway, for speech-to-text and voice-rec, I use the Microsoft Speech SDK, which is free and very powerful. It works great! Easy to use in your own software. With that stereo mic, it works perfect, even when the windows are down and I'm blasting along the highway at 120km/h.

I just bought a "universal" laptop power supply for $30, specifically the kind that could work on a 12V cigarette lighter plug. Then I chopped off the plug and wired the two wires directly to my car's 12V supply. Very easy.

Who makes it...do you have a link. Thats a very easy way to do it. Better than an inverter safty wise...I have a couple laptops that are going to potential PC's for the van and I figure that would be the easiest route for my first PC.
