very nice work manntis. If only my car had a 2.5 din opening.![]()
Luckily the 84-85 RX-7 comes with a 2.5 DIN stereo opening. With minor trimming, I got the screen to fit.
The screen and console:
test fit:
Behind the scenes - I affixed the rear plastic mounting plate directly to the console face and snapped in the screen from the front:
...as seen here, sans screen (but with console face now painted and clearcoated to match the car colour)
screen mounted:
DVD/CDROM drive mounted in the top of the glovebox. I cut two slits in the top of the glovebox and strapped it there with black metal strapping. left over from a shipping crate. Cutting out a small rectangle of plastic behind it made room for connecting wires, though I still haven't got it to work right.
Carputer tucked inside / behind storage bin behind driver's seat. I've since installed a new bin with less plastic cut away.
up and running. You can see the thumb drive I use to quickly load new music onto it - it's hanging from a silver USB cable in the passenger footwell (tucks up into the dash when not connecting or disconnecting it)

Never let the truth get in the way of a good story
That's cheating! That monitor fit perfectly, no fair, they not supposed to fit and make you work for it.
Looks good, like it was meant for that space.
love those cars, id love to see some pics of the outside of ur car![]()

thank god...
You just made me shed a tear for my old 88 10th anniversary ED. and 85 GSLSE. Looks good.
LMFAO, if only my install was that easy that I could just pop a piece in then slide the screen in, lol.
