Yea portabuddy is extremely busy. I mean it took 3 months for him to finish my small project. You just gotta keep at him and he will answer. He doesn't try to ignore people i just think he gets MASS emails. He does a lot of work on civics.

Im freaking overwhelmed... lol. Just this weekend i did two fogight installs one pulley kit(took 4 hours) two spring jobs. I took on this and all other projects for the creative outlet. i like doing things like this. but lately my co-workers are really letting me and the company down. and im forced to stay on for a extra 3-4 hours daily or sometimes the whole day, thats from 8pm to 11pm... getting a day in lue instead of OT.

I cant wait for my shop to be built. get some more customers and ACTULLY do what i want and do this full time. on a full scale.

    Untill then. ...

this is after 3 or so coats of flat black paint. i like useing it as a primer because covers well, you cant put on too much and it dries in seconds. sands well too...

you can really see the problem areas, the black rings around the white marks are multiple layers down.

I must have flat blacked, sanded filled pinholes and divits then sanded again and painted 3-4 times... this took about 3-4 days.

here is the 4th or 5th layer of black and filler... in this picture you can see the main thing i was trying to achive, which was lacking in my 10" screen, a HOOD!!!, the windsheild is so large on the civics that the sun beets right down onto the screen and makes it imposable to see. a flush mounted screen(like mine) has no chance.

here is what the painting and sanding achives... the rough sanding up till this point was done with 120 and 240 grit, all the filler and black layers where knocked down with 320.

Here you can see the 120 sanding marks all filled in. and some pinholes that where also filled in with the multipple layers of paint and filler. You can also see how i switched from a pink red to a blue filler.this lets me see how far i go.

Tools of the trade, some files I Used. I ended up useing three differant blocks pencles wrapped in sandpaper, batteries stickes and shapped fiam all to get the shape i was looking for.

here it as at the final stage... more or less.

and in primer(red high build) you can see the slight un-evenness that the layers caused, that not a level change its a texture change and is only seen in a finished painted finish, thats why you always primer.

Knocking it down i found more problems...

It wasn't perfectly smooth. some slight pinholes... I primed it again and went to finishing putty.

After the filler was "feathered down"

this stage is done... now to final paint... this means that it needs a final primer(low build fine primer)

Sanded with 400 grit only!!!!, it will get painted after this.

I ended up burning through in a few spots so a had to re-primer... But once that was done and everything was sanded i Swabbed it with some 90prf. rubbing alcohol and painted.

this was the first finish, a satin black... this was just flat black.

I cleared it with a satin sami-closs clear, but it reacted with the black so after baking it i sanded it back down and re-painted it with another kind of black with a topcoat.

the top coat makes it look realy dark and like corrie wanted, like a plastic kind of look.

I experimented with a few typed of finishes, textures from a home improvement stores...

Problem is that Here in Canada we had a few freak storms come through that made it imposable to paint.

We even had a few tornado touch down, but right when i went to pain the wind died down to nothing just barely long enough for me to finish...

    and my EPIC wrapping...

That blue tape is called hurracane tape, its glue is really really mild but its strong. the stuff they wrap screens and plastic with so it doesnt get scratches.

there are airbags wrapped all around the screen unit to prevent any possable damage.

there is a bundle of bubble wrap at the base of the box, and more airbags... lots or airbags.

that box is triple reinforces BTW.
more tape more wrap more airbags...

I think it was 90 degrees today. Nothing that should be too hot for the dash to handle.

Holly crap.......... That sux, you waited awhile to get that too. Wonder what material he used? The stuff Nexson used seemed super tough. My bezel is very hard to get on and off, I literally have to flex and bend the bezel to get it on (one of Chrysler's weird design flaws). So far what Nexon has done is able to withstand the taking and putting on.

So if it was 90 degrees, then the inside was way hotter! If so, with good materials it shouldnt have done that.
