Sorry, I've been dealing with some carPC issues. My screen had a bit of smoke emitting from the top, so I haven't made a whole lot of progress.

I'm planning on making a "false" backing that will cut a few inches of the trunk and place the amp, PC, and woofer behind it. Right now though, I just have the piece of wood I'm planning on using sitting in the trunk with the amp bolted to it.

I actually think the Mustang trunk is very respectable (for a convertible).

As for boot times with the SSD, I haven't fully tested that with final software setup. I think it's about 30 seconds from power on to music but I'm quite sure I can get that down a bit. (I'll post some times when I get it back up and running.

Lots of updates since the last post. My Xenarc screen fried (apparently because I hooked the 12v and ground backwards, oops). So I bought a cheap USB only 7" lilliput and modified it to accept the touch panel from the Xenarc. Then I super puttied up the opening to compensate for the slightly different sized panels and replaced all the wiring with a single USB cable to the front of the car along with one audio cable.

I fabricated a hideously ugly box in the trunk where I mounted my pc, amp, and 10" sub. After I got it all working and everything I recently decided "you know what? An android tablet would be so much better than all this wiring and waiting for the pc to boot" So I bought a slightly used Samsung Galaxy Tab yesterday that I am getting prepared to take the place of all that.

I'll post lots more pictures of the current setup soon and when I install the tab I'll post more

Quick question. How did you get centrafuse to say "Mustang" instead of "centrafuse"? I know you just modified one of the images in the centrafuse folder, but I'm not sure which it is.

For whichever skin you are using (I think mine is Aura right now) there is a logo.png file. I replaced the centrafuse .png with the mustang one. If I remember correctly I found that logo on a centrafuse forum somewhere.

I would provide more details about where it's located, but it's been a very long time since I did it. If I get a chance, I'll look into it more and post more specific instructions.

Yea its for the aura skin. The image is of only the "centrafuse" right and not the centrafuse on the background as 1 image? So I'd be modding the text image only and not the whole background?

Yeah, it's just a png with a transparent background. It will be placed over the background image.

Nice setup! Question for you & I'm not sure if you had time to test it out but how well did the Navigation work with the Globalsat BU-353?

    TIA

Sorry for the late reply. Never had any issues with the GPS.

Recently ripped out the entire car pc along with the amp and sub in preparation for the full replacement.
I want to be able to remove the Galaxy Tab whenever I want to that it isn't permanently set in the dash (so I can occasionally use it as a Tab). I attempted making a custom dash piece out of fiberglass (my first experience with it). What a pain! I promptly gave up and ordered a 2 piece snap together case for the tab that I will end up fiberglassing into the current dash.

I also replaced the aging 4.1 channel alpine amp and the 10" 'thump' woofer I put in the fugly custom box I had in the trunk with a kicker 4 channel amp to power the stock speakers in the car (will probably soon replace them) and a Polk Audio bridged dual channel amp to power a new Polk Audio 12" sub placed in a POS box I modified from a 10 inch sub (will be fabricating a new box in next few days). I now sound like a ricer thumping down the street.

Still no good pics, but I thought I'd keep you updated.

Having the tab instantly ready when I power on the car is very nice. I do think I might miss having FM radio though...

    UPDATES!
I have completed creating a custom sub woofer enclosure to place my new goodies in (pics are hopefully attached).

I have also affixed the Galaxy tab into the console (but apparently neglected to take a picture. Will include soon. I still have a little bit of finishing work to finalize the tablet. Just a little bit of black paint and maybe a little sanding. Then hopefully I'm actually done!

Let me know what you think. This was my first attempt at carpeting an enclosure and all that good stuff...

Some of the pics compare the old woofer and amp with the new.
