I thought about doing something like that. I just kinda started cutting and grinding, and decided to make it a permanent mount. Shoot me a link when you get started on that, i'd like to see how it goes.

will do, basically I'd make a plate with some raised sections like in the pic, using MDF and then I'd fibreglass it, paint it black then glue the connectors on there.

Easiest way I could think of making it look like it's been removed.

As I wanted a transflective screen I'm only able to get the 7" widescreen unit from Linitx, however for my van install I'm looking at getting something like a 10"+ screen as there's (a) plenty of room in there (b) far less glare & sunlight in the cab compared to a car. Again the chances are I'll be doing the same thing for security or maybe even making it so it can be removed! Being a van I don't mind it looking a little industrial where as the car has to look factory if not better!

Looks great!! Hope my (in progress) Blazer dash comes out half as well. Do you miss the air the center vents put out? On my Blazer they seem to channel more of the air when I'm using the A/C on the top vents than being equally shared by all four.

I'm not missing the center vents too much, because now I just get more pressure out the sides. All and all, I think the AC works just as good as it did before.

Didn't go to Summer Slaughter. Wish I did, heard it was a good one.

    and guv,

I would've loved to get my hands on a transreflective, but i'm broke as ****. Good luck with the build, i'm curious to see how it turns out.

I Love how you set up the GPS unit. Does it still get good and acurate reception? Other then that your install is awesome!

Works fine for now, but i'm tinting the windows in a couple of weeks. So I might have to relocate it (not sure if it'll still be able to aquire a signal through a 65% tint). I might end up switching to a different receiver, like this one:

Nice install. Everything worked out for you with the screen and then the amps, nice fabrication skills too on the glassing.

Tint shouldn't be a problem, my Kenwood GPS module for my old headunit managed to pick up signals fine and that was mounted under the dashboard, under the stereo, under a ton of wire looms and tbh I didn't think it'd work as I didn't really need it anyway (Kenwood satnav is crap compared to TomTom, for the UK anyway)... Amazingly it worked just fine.

Plus those Globalsat units are meant to be one of the best for signal strength I heard?
