Of course, i use the built in wifi adapter in the eee, removed the antennas from the case and stuck them on top of the glove box. You can get a cheap usb card for your setup if you don;t have wireless.

    Small update

Found a good place for the on/off switch but lost the cigarette lighter which isn't a problem. The switch can be extended from the eee with 2 wires...

I love the power switch idea! So, what other tricks do you have up your sleeve?

    Very nice, I like it!
I was thinking a LOT about using the EEE, but 7" is just too big for my Opel Corsa. It must be 6.5", but that's pretty much solved right now.

Where did you buy the touch panel? Which model is it?
    Opel Club Croatia
    Opel Corsa OPC

    Excellent job overall.

    One question though:

Why didn't you install 7" VGA touch screen and VGA output of EEE instead of messing with soldering?

I grabed one from ebay, the controller has a USB hub built in so i used that to connect gps and camera to the touchscreen connector.

Well the first reason was my budget, this way there was no need for a new screen, just a touchpanel. Other reason is that EEE lcd seems to be brighter than regular lilliput screens. I can not confirm this since i don't have a lilliput but the screen is very readable in sunlight.

Like I said, excellent job, don't take my post as a criticism. I am not that good in soldering and I would probably fry my EEE before long. Properly modded double-din Lilliputs (double-din) are going for about $250 on fleebay which is about twice the price of my EEE 701.

I also looked at this guy project: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w208...mmers-gps.html You Benz owners might find it interesting.

I have Mercedes CLK 320 convertible and I am working on my carputer project based on EEE too. Hopefully I will present it here soon. It will be quite different from yours though.

One more question: where did you get matching grey leather? My car's interior is grey too.

I would recommend extending a laptop lcd cable this way but it's doable if you feel very confident with soldering. It's a cheap option if you use eee anyway.

My interior is actually black, maybe the light and the photos make it look grey. You can get leather at local stores. You can go for vinyl or real leather, i used real leather, had some left from some other interior things i have done.
