2008 Pontiac G6 GXP CarPC Project Version 2

Hey guys, know its been awhile since i last asked for help but i finally was able to find time to try and hook up my Joy Con to my 08 Pontiac G6. The info you gave was spot on. i had to supply power to one wire, and then connect the joy con to the other. My problem im facing now is when i press any of the 5 buttons they all display as the same preset on the joy-con explorer. So pretty much i can only have all of the buttons do one thing. i would like to figure out how to set each of them to do their own function.. any ideas? Only thing i did notice is it says to hook up a 10v supply, i didn't have that so i connected a 12v supply.. wonder if that would make a difference?

I noticed there is a new joycon PCB; do you have the one with multiple inputs?

With the older one(single input), the device gets its power from USB, not an external power source. The device is simply measuring resistance over a line, just like an ohm meter. If you add power into that line it will throw everything off...maybe even damaging the device as it's designed for the 5V that USB provides. Volts kill electronics, Amps kill people.

I would imagine the new one follows the same rules.

Edit: Re-read the post 2 above.

The stock radio may supply voltage and read the voltage drop, the joycon may do something similar. Regardless, no extra power need be supplied to the lines!

If your '08 has the same connector as my '04 GTP, then you can try this.

As it is what I did and all my buttons work as expected.

Hey guys so I've tried both suggestions above. I do have the new joyconEX when I hook up the line with 12v and press a button the Joycon software measures 12v for any button pushed. When I hook the two wires to A6 and A7 nothing happened. Any suggestions would be great. Thank you for the help.

Go to that site, its for your car.

It states (for their product): Connect the SWI-X 's Green wire to Pin A9 Dark Blue of the above connector. Connect Pin A10 White/Black to +12 volts accessory.


So with your JoyCon try this.

Connect your black wire into A9 and your white wire into A10.

Don't supply any 12+ volt from any source. You should not have to add voltage, your measuring resistance that the joycon sends ~3v out of the white and into the black and measures the resistance of that returning ~3v.

This is why you can connect the white to the black and the joycon will recognize a full loop with no resistance.

Let us know what happens with this setup.

choose SWI-X and then NO at the bottom, choose your vehicle and below the small photo of the wiring harness from the car, there is a small paragraph as my previous post stated. So far this method has worked.

Thanks for all the information, I now have my joyconex working in my 2007 Chevy HHR. No splicing if the wires, just added the two wires to the plug of the GMOS-LAN-04 that plugs into the radio harness and away I went.

The wires from the joyconex didn't go into exactly the same spot as the pontiac mentioned above. I did some reseacrh and found out that pin 14 and pin 11 on the other plug were needed, but I didn't need to add any DC power at all.

The trick though was adding the additional wires to the GMOS-Lan-04. I found that door bell wire worked pretty well as it was solid and seemed to fit into the back of the GMOS plug and push all the way into the OEM wireharness.

I am also running the joyconex off of a USB hub, powered only by the plug from the USB port on the computer. No additional power was needed. This hub runs the touch screen, Visteon USB/Serial plug, and now the steering Wheel controls.

Now I just have to play with the explorer and get it to use the correct keyboard commands and load the presets when it starts.

I have an 06 Pontiac G6 with 6cd Monsoon Radio. I get my DIC info through the radio. Did you relocate your radio or did you add at third party DIC

Ya i used a Metra 99-3303 kit to replace the radio DIC. I put it in the center console.
