I think the CPU/MB combo works great. I have not tested real much video playback, but for NON-HD material, no problem. With responsive, what do you mean? Fast enough for me at least, and I think everybody else also thinks so. As long as you donīt start playing some FPS game or something else very CPU/GPU demanding it should be ok. Startup of Windows takes roughly 20seconds when starting from hibernation mode and a fresh startup takes roughly 1minute until I have sound in the speakers.

By responsive I mean opening/closing folders, dragging and dropping, etc, but it sounds like you have no problems. Anything 200sx specific you encountered? Tips/suggestions? I also have a 200sx (240sx in the states) and am about to begin my project. Behind the screen location was clever, any problems cooling or otherwise with gong that route?

I had in my previous car also the MB behind the screen inside the dash, you can find pictures of that installation in my signature.

I have not noticed any problems so far with cooling or anything else, very stable. Would be nice to follow your project aswell.

    Thanks meddler!

Finished the install in the weekend, it sure sounds nicely. I am very satisfied with the setup, will make a video for you guys next weekend. I also installed a microphone so that I can use my mobilephone with the mobilephone.net plugin, otherwise nice but had a lot of echoing... Needs to be investigated.

I have some new plans also for the 200SX, the frontspoiler / bumper will be joined together, center hole opened up, maybe some bumper extension in the rear on the sides, new wheels... So stay tuned, this project isnīt done yet

Hi, your set up looks very nice. I also have a 200sx exactly like yours and I have wanted to put a carputer in it for quite some time now. So then when I searched the forums on here, I was surprised to see that somebody has read my mind and put a carputer in it exactly the same way that I would!

Anyway I am quite a newbie at all this, I haven't started, I'm just trying to get all the info I need.

My first question is regarding the screen. I know that you have a 7" screen, did you have to search around for a specific model or do all 7" screens fit into the bezel aside from some small modifications? The reason why I ask is because there are a few screens that I like and I just want to know if I would need a specific type, or pretty much any 7" screen would do?

The second question is, how did you get the screen to fit into the bezel so nicely? Did you use ABS cement or something for the moulding or did you do it some other way?

Again, sorry for the newbie questions! These are pretty much the only two things I weren't sure about for my install. I did have an all-in-one 7" LCD unit (built-in gps/dvd/tv/etc) that required some filing of my bezel but it looked pretty dodgy, so this time I want to do it properly

Hi! Thank you for those nice words!!

I canīt say that ALL 7" screens will but I would guess that they do. My screen is 178 x 123 x 28mm and much bigger than that wonīt fit, but measure before you do any ordering

I first soldered the plastic parts togehter and after that I used some filler to make it all even.

If you have anymore questions you know where to find me.

Nice car and nice install. Have always liked the 200SX and the Skyline. Love your install. I notice you have the VM70 screen. How do you like them? I want to buy 4 of them for my rear seats. I was maybe even thinking of replacing my Lilliput EBY701 in the front. How is the brightness? According to Lilliput, theirs is 400cd, while the VM70 is 300cd.

Thank you, I am glad you like the install. I really donīt know if the screen is a VM70 or not but it sure looks like one. I have bought it from carlights.de, their modelname is CM13, maybe the have rebranded it, donīt know. As for the brightness, I am satisfied. It isnīt a transreflective screen so in direct sun light you canīt expect much but otherwise it is doing itīs job.

Thanks for the reply. The VM70 looks nice, looks like there is a place on ebay to buy these units and they deliver worldwide (am in australia) so I might purchase one, they seem to do everything I want and they look like a nice fit
