ok... i will have to say i agree. when i first came to mp3car i expected to see a bunch of techno geeks... (we all obviously fall into that class or we wouldnt be here) that spent most of their time behind a keyboard scripting and paying someone else to fab. Instead i found a huge group of like minded ppl who also have some awesome fab skills. Ive been doing fiberglass and metal fab most of my life and have to say that there are some ppl on here that make me feel bad sometimes. lmao. but thanks to all of you for always posting so much useful information and sharing your work with us. as long as everyone continues we will always continue to grow...

and on another note... CABE... HOW BOUT A JOB MAN???? Detroit is dead i need to move.

Its dead everywhere man. The trick is, and this is what I have always been good at, is make your own market. Depending on the industry to pick up is like hoping you will win the lottery without buying a ticket. So my trick is coming up with things that people want before they even know they want it. Then I put it in my car and act like they are so behind on the times for not having the new cool gadget I have. Whamo! I sell they buy and everyone is happy. The cool part is that the gadget eventually does become the toy everybody wants and I'm the one that has it.
Then I have created my own market.........see......its easy.
Just kidding, its a pain but what else would we do

    Hey Guys,

Thanks for the fine compliments. This board has truly shaped not only the type of work I do, but my life. Fiberglass was something I messed around with when I was 18 (22 now) and it was just to see if I could make a subwoofer box. I have to be honest and say (looking back) that the sub box was the ugliest thing ever hehe. I definitely respect any other fabricator, as this "ish" (I don't curse hehe) is NOT easy, especially on a larger scale like systems and other audio builds, and dare I mention you have to prep a f/g box for paint. We as fabricators don't do it for the money, ok maybe we do, but more importantly, it is something we are born with. I can honestly say that I thank God quite often with the two hands that I am using now to type this out. They have shaped any fabrication I have ever done. I guess some people are just born with skills and more importantly patience! Patience to knock down fiberglass and then duraglass with 36 grit hand sanding hehe. We do it for the final product and for that PM or email back saying "wow, just got the panel, it looks great." Surely these jobs can be hard at times, we aren't all perfect and things do crack, but it matters how well you recover from it once you redo it for the customer. All in all mp3car has shaped the line of work I do. With multiple bezels, I have shifted my line of work toward dashes. I do not necessarily make things look exotic, but rather make things like they belong there, I term it "OEM Replication". I enjoy the small projects because a lot more attention to detail is expected and I have the patience for them. Each project has to be treated as if it were your own. When we fabricators send something out, we are sending out our name to the world. When people see it at car shows, they will either like it and are WOW-ed, or they won't even ask about it because they can tell it is crap work. To conclude, the future is bright and I am honestly blessed to be valued by every single member here who has consistently mentioned my name when a fabricator suggestion came up.

    Thanks Mp3car!

And that folks is a true builder.
I remember when I was 14 and started doing my first systems and teaching myself how to work fiberglass and any other material I could get my hands on. Now Im 32, been ranked one of the top fabricators in the country for 7 years, Built numerous blue ribbon vehicles and got to star on two tv shows. Even after all that at the end of the day all it is that my two hands pay the bills and feed my kids. Everything else is just a result of doing what I love to do. If anybody has any questions that Nexson cant answer feel free to ask. He is what I call a "patient" fabricator and enjoys the OEM look and that is very hard to pull off. My brain looks at things and goes "why would they do that?".......then I cut it out and make it crazy, exotic or just plain better. I never was really good at making it look stock. Refer to the photos of the BMW dash above.......not quite OEM.

I really appreciate that. I think one of the hardest things is to look at someone else's work and acknowledge it as good work. Even more so since you have ten years on me, it is easy for you easily be a "know it all", however you remain VERY humble. At times there are haters, which is ALWAYS common when you do good work. It is the type of people that can't swallow their pride. It is best to brush them off and move on. I believe that if a fabricator can honor another fabricators work and not feel any jealously, then that is a man, or woman(don't want to be sexist hehe)

Trust me, I've worked with and know the "best" and half of them are not pleasent to be around. The ones that are dont mind helping out and teaching little tricks and will tell you if your work is good or not. I have had the honor though of making friends wth the good ones and will always be amazed at what I dont know. Thats what made me get into the car pc's, fabricating was starting to get a little boring and obvious. The challenge seems to be gone but these pc's are making me feel like a newbie again cus I am but I bet by this time next year I will have some pretty sick stuff on the market and in the magazines.

And yes your work is good..........but I could shave about 2 hours off your dash mold ins I see you do. Its late now and I am going to bed but I know of a couple materials, chemicals that will make you go "seriously.....I didnt have to sand all that"

    Tell you later
