Just wanted to say I am impressed

If you know who I am you know I am a car fabricator and have been for years. If you dont know now you do. I have been involved and built 1000's of cars and if you look at car magazines you more than likely have seen my work. Over the years I have searched for installers and fabricators that were worth there weight and its not easy. I find it amazing that here on these forums I find hundreds of people that do some pretty amazing fabrication and installation work. I just wanted to say you guys impress the hell out of me. Sorry if its off topic so here, to fix that, show me your best fab skills.

1.Who has a full 5.1 or 7.1 surround in there car and show me your onscreen controls and system.

2.Who is hitting 150db or better with there car pc setup.

3.Full fiberglass?

4.Do you have something you invented or created that is the only one in the world?

Im curious because Im throwing around a crazy idea to build another show car for SEMA and CES and if I find people on here that I beleive could contribute to that build than I would like to incorporate them into it.

Motorized screens are standard in many installs, but this one was one of the early ones and solved a problem for an odd shaped dash front.

Making and embedding a dock inside the dash for the Mac Mini worked great and I'm pretty sure I have the only lunchbox style handle (to allow removal from the dash) on a Mini in the world.

Also, a nice detail was repurposing the cup holder to showcase a Griffin Powermate way before BMW thought of it.

i like the screen. how did you do it. i have never seen a homemade flip like that, they are usually straight up and down......interesting

For fiberglass, you should check some of "Nexon"'s work. I think he has a couple show off threads where he displays what he has made for other people. Top notch figerglass/bondo work.

i can't think of anyone that has gone the 5.1/7.1 route yet, mostly because there is no need to in most installs, and most music is only 2 channel, but there are plenty of programs that should allow you to easily implement a 5.1 system w/ eq, time alignment, and crossovers.

here is a quick pic of my audio setup-- this would be a computer controlled active 3-way setup:

this is a older picture, i have since added a 30hz highpass to the sub, and a 20khz lowpass to the tweeter, and have tweeked the settings a little more, but i could deffinatly run a surround sound setup if i chose to, using the stuff i already have(i really only need to add the wiring and amp for the rear speakers, and a center channel).

What software do you have that has crossover and eq points? I never knew of such a thing. Alot of my customers by dvd audio discs which are all in 5.1 and sound amazing if you have the setup in your car. I will check out Nexon also.

Yea Nexson and rdholz(not sure if i spelled that one right) do some spectacular work. Nexson is an admin on another site where he has tons of work. I forget the website though.

finding good workers is almost as hard as finding work. even on these forums, youll find some pretty ambitious projects only to turn out somewhat as good as it should have (see my project for a perfect example, although im not fully done). but overall, i agree with you i think many of the people here actually are pretty decent fabricators.

In Linux (and OSX) we have an audio piping api called "JACK". It allows piping of sound through multiple JACK-enabled processor applications and EQ's. Coupled with a real-time kernel and 5.1 surround sound. I bet you could build a killer sounding system.

"wirelessdreamer" messes a lot with real-time processing using JACK.
