i did the fabrication myself and BELIEVE me i'm a noob at best in that regard so try it out. My suggestion is buy a second double din bezel and just work on that as to not mess up the original. You can get them on ebay or crutchfield. It really doesnt require THAT much cutting just some bondo work to make both pieces mold together.

In my car i use the directed HD Radio. Its by far the best solution for radio in the car.

well Mike (Malcolm2073) hooked my space navigator up with custom red led's to replace the factory blue's that totally clash with my red interior lights at night. Here's the end result. Night shot soon to come

and thanks to Alok at Portal Media i'll soon be adding the TPMS kit to my install. Thats pretty much the only thing i DONT have hooked up to my pc lol

i noticed you say you will soon be replacing your m2-atx PSU. why so and have you done it yet?

yes a few months back i replaced the m2 with a dsatx because the m2 caused my radio to have so much interference it was barely usable. Replacing just the power supply cured the issue.

I just got a question for ya: how exactly did you connect the Directed HD radio unit (power, audio and mitch's cable) to the carPC? I've been trying to figure out how to implement the radio without causing too much interference.

well i probably went overboard in an attempt to get rid of interference unrelated to the radio install... but i have 12v, acc, and gnd from my directed unit running the length of the car and connected to the same distribution units that connect 12, acc, and gnd to the dsatx. Do you have a mast style antenna or a window antenna? It seems people with mast attennas have no problems with interference with these radios.

BTW my install has changed a bit.. i built a box for the equipment and that cleaned up the install pretty substantially, i have to find the time to update my pics

What about the RCA and Mitch's HD Radio cable (well, more on the latter). Are you using a Serial-to-USB cable? or did you run a serial extension?

I'm trying to figure out what cables to run my car's length. I figured I'd power the radio unit via the unused power cables from my headunit wiring and run RCA and either an "8 pin mini din extension" or an RS-232 extension to the computer (since USB adapters cause some issues based on what I've read so far). But would that cause signal degradation?

I have a mast antenna (Scion tC)

Running a long set of Monster RCA cables from the front of the car to the back, then connect them to the computer with a y-cable and rca to 3.5mm adapter. Mitch's cable is connected via usb/serial and that has caused no issues for me

Oh ok, so it wasn't because it wouldn't supply all of your carputer equipment with enough power? The reason I ask is because I plan on using the same DG45FC mobo but with a slightly smaller E7400 processor, and pretty much everything else similar BUT I want to be able to power a 12.1" sxga lcd monitor off this supply as well, which has 12v 15watt power requirements. Do you think the m2 would be fine? I would like to just purchase the power bundle from the store but want to make sure it will support the lcd....
