It looks like you enjoy hiding things so no one knows you have a pc in your car.
looks good![]()
awesome job, i also have an MKIV GTI, How exactly did you extend the screen, to my understanding the cable that connects the screen (lvs) degrades the signal after a certain length or something. pics would be niceDDD
My First CarputerIf its not broke, try and fix it.
This was my primary idea when i started this little project + it's much easier to see the navigation/Dashcommand . I like the oem look.
Thanks!
The problem about the length of the cable made me wanna do this. I didn't believe that so i had to try it for my self.
Don't start this type of modification if you don't have good soldering skills and lots of patience...
i don`t have any problems with my display and the cable length is ~1,5 meters. If you do the soldering right you won't have any problems.
I will post some pictures of the cable itself in my next post.
p.s. Scrambles if you didn't mount you pc yet you could do it under the steering wheel there is lots of space .... if you do some modification to the relay panel you can fit an entire desktop in there:P!
Hope to see your project done soon!

Sounds awesome, i can solder pretty well (a little out of practice), and i havent started my project beyond planning (financial reasons) i might just take an old 7" eee w/ touch screen mod and put it where my stock radio is currently.
