Case: Two sheets of plexi screwed together to form a "T" and Mounted in armrest.
Display: No-Name 7" wide screen TFT.
Power: eMachine 180W AC-DC PSU W/ 300W inverter.
Storage: IBM Travelstar 40Gig. Laptop HD, Pioneer 16x Slot Load DVD
Sound: M-Audio Sonica USB Sound Device w/ emulated 5.1 Surround Sound.
Controls: Creative Credit Card Remote, Griffin Powermate, Touchpad w/ guesture recognition, USB Keyboard (for GPS and MAME), 2 USB Gravis Destroyer TILT controlers for MAME.
Misc.: 4 port USB hub mounted in passenger side of armrest for Keyboard and controlers when playing MAME. USB to Serial adaptor for Rand McNally GPS
Software: Windows XP Pro, Map Point 2002, 4500+ MP3s, 3200+ MAME ROMs, and lots of DVDs. Media Engine V1.7, waiting for Media Engine V2.0...

UPDATE!!!

Changed my Hard Drive out for a desktop 60Gig deal...I Needed more room for the movies I am downloading from RACINGFLIX.COM...and changed the intake fan on the side to a glowing red one. Much brighter now!!!

Also here is a pic of my completed Media Engine skin. This should be on the MEDIA ENGINE site soon.

Very Nice dude, you hve done a very nice job. Question, any pics of where you placed your GPS and how is that usb to serial adapter working for you? I have the Rand McNally GPS also and used a usb to serial adapter and it didn't seem to run? Do you have the Rand McNally GPS with the ps2 power line? Let me know what you did to get it to work, thanks in advance,

Where did you get the red LED power switch? I don't know where to find a cool momentary switch for my carputer. RadioShack's selection isn't too stylish

The screen is some nock off 7" wide screen running at 800 x 600. I got it on eBay about 3 years ago for $200. The switch info can be found HERE

The GPS Sits on the rear deck. The windows are tinted so I don't worry about it melting in the sun. Yes, I have the same GPS reciever you have. I just have the serial running into the USB->serial adaptor. I think it is the root of my BSODs at boot up sometimes. I am going to move the IR reciever to the adaptor to see if that fixes the problem. I just made sure I picked the correct COM port in Street Atlas and disabled the "serial mouse" in the device manager. XP saw it as a serial mouse and was makeing the pointer freak out. Common problem...

Keep the comments commin'...It makes me feel all this work was worth it even more...

I don't have the keyboard in the visor in this car. I'm still debating on how to do it. It will be done though. The screen is just a regular composite input tft-lcd. Nothing special...

One other thing...I'm still working on getting pics at night. Don't know if you can tell but I have a 4" cold cathode under the Carputer. Looks pretty cool at night when the plexi picks up the color.

I have underdash neons which glow blue. Matches my blue cluster lighting perfectly. But you know a neon in the case does nto sound like a bad idea... Show us the keyboard when you do it. I need to steal a keyboard idea
