This sounds effing SWEET!!! Once the nuts and bolts of it are published, I'll be hard at work on backporting it so it'll work on any car!!!
Its a standard plug and has to be located "within two feet of the steering wheel".

A little reading last night leads me to believe that in Dodge vehicles, one might find at least two CAN networks: CANBUS and a a variation they call CAN-IHS.
The CANBUS is standard - tranny, engine, mission-critical stuff. Then the CAN-IHS (Interior High Speed BUS) is used to control the radio and such (the fun stuff).
As far as I could tell, the easiest way to tap into the CAN-IHS is by piggy-backing onto the radio's CAN-IHS connection. Other people tapped in by splicing into a wiring harness in the drivers side doorjam and another tapped into a harness in the passenger seat area (probably was there to control seats or something).
To splice in, you'll need to connect bus+ and bus-, Vbatt, and ground, to your scan tool. Then your scan tool may need some minor reconfiguration to adjust it to the CAN-IHS BUS speed.
Sounds like a fun project. If you're ever in Philly, hit me up.

are you using a elm327 based device to do the remote command sending? If so, do you have any logs? I've been trying unsuccessfully thus far to lock/unlock my doors (thought I'd start with something simple).
Also, did you ever post what codes are involved in starting/stopping the engine?
thanks!

Once I get some time to actually work on my ongoing project, I may have to chat with you to learn some more. I'm looking at basically doing the same thing with VAG (Volkswagen Auto Group) cars to remote control some aspects. I'm already to the point I can't ever have a car without mobile internet (bluetooth PAN/Wifi tether) and some other features I now take for granted. That and a boost gauge/temp gauge etc on the dash is nice.
