i thought windows 7 booted faster than xp?
Well I'm still making minor changes and things, but technically I've completed my install.
My shortlist of todo(which isn't exactly of any urgency):
Add ability to switch source power to pc/display
Get OSK working with Garmin MobilePC -- Still struggling here, since i haven't needed nav for a while haven't rushed, kinda hoping for the next elite skin with it built in.
Configure and setup sync with server box -- Just haven't had the chance to sit down and load the software, trying to use rsync and wippienservice.
Add more content to CarPC -- Woooo PSaver!
Speed up boot-time -- switched to Tiny7 x86, and changed home clone to match, god sent be it hibernate or clean start.
My completed blog post with pictures, mostly posted just to put up pictures and stop referencing my facebook albums when I'm trying to describe this.

And yes, I know my web site is plain. It's meant mostly as a scratch pad for myself.

Curious to know the reason why you have 64bit WIN7 installed.

Depends on the hardware.
I fully 100% approve of your motherboard choice!
I will be using GMPC, but am going to use Nick's plugin for GMPC and Centrafuse in my new build. I know that doesn't really help your OSK issues but if you go with CF, his plugin is looking spectacular!
The rest of my equipment around the house is x64. I'm also in a few programming classes and planning to try to write some extra features into the system. I figured safest choice was to keep all my software environments as close as possible, and aside form 1 linux box, every single system in my house is Win7 x64 Ult.
Some of the ideas I've got are with bluetooth, and the only understandable libraries I've been able to find appeared to require Vista or newer. I'm wanting to come up with some applications/tools that are presence aware and change up varying settings based on whoever's cellphone is in the car.

Under most circumstances it should. And I skipped the whole trying XP on it thing. I haven't had a chance to go through the services and whatnot. I'm getting about a minute boot time from hibernate/hybrid sleep after the bios handoff, and I can't recall the time for a standard startup right now.

if you wan't to cover the gaps on the side you can use a double din kit, the one i used was just 2 pieces of plastic that wen't on the sides, see my sig

I actually ended up doing so, and discovered that the eby701 premodded kit is actually larger then the space, so I'd end up angling the display in some manner so it wouldn't end up "flush" with the plastic gap kit. Though that doesn't take from the appearance. If I removed the door cover completely from the assembly it would fit perfectly with a random shape that would need filling around it. But i'm happy with how it turned out... so far! lol
My list hardware wise of plans:
etch out SCION from the door(drop door panel), spray paint the backing and put acrylic and an LED in there wired to the MB status led on the motherboard/PSU
wire-up an ATX->internal wireharness adapter so I can just run the whole damn thing from an external PSU overnight for updates and syncing...
Try rerouting the sub source to the amp under the drivers seat since the motherboard doesn't seem to want to send anything to it directly... -.-'

great install! I'm working on a carpc right now, but I was wondering isn't the touchscreen taller than the original radio? Is that why you said you angled your screen?
yea actually, that and I was concerned with glare and whatnot so it was going to be angled regardless. On the lower side of the opening there were these little plastic nubs that made it a bit difficult to fit in. Just snipped those of for a flush edge and the screen fit in nicely. I was concerned I'd have to cut a slit into the a/c control box below it, but turned out it really was a perfect fit
