Looks great! What a stupid idea by Ford to make one piece speakers that are rivetted in place. Seriously...how much cost does that really save?

Thanks! Yeah I'm pretty happy with it, including the sound from the speakers. Recently got Garmin Mobile PC running too.

Will get more pics hopefully this weekend when I make a start on the rear speakers.

Yeah tell me about it! Even the rear ones are riveted in place. However, the bonus to me was a ready made speaker spacer\mount!

Lovely install. It looks very professional.

Those speaker brackets look like 5x7, but the actual speaker obviously isn't 5x7. Didn't the 5x7 fit in there once you removed the factory speaker bracket? In any case, your JBLs will probably do a much better job than most 5x7s anyway

The 5x7 did not fit at all. The shape of the whole is a bit weird. kinda like a 8" speaker hole with "ears"!

Thought I would update this thread.

Firstly, pics of the actually PC and Amp.

Tidying up the cables. The amp is one that I had lying around and does the job nicely.

    The GPS Module:-

The white square is the holes I drilled for added ventilation. Hopefully this will be sprayed up soon:-

I also got around to doing the rear speakers.

    Original Speakers:-

    Speakers removed:-

Speaker cut out of the frame:-

    The connector removed:-

    Speaker frame:-

This is the new speaker that will be used. A step up from the paper cone original! :-

The surface flattened to accept the speaker. this needed to be done as the speaker is 6.5" and wont fit within the ridge:-

The speaker connectors hot glued in place. again, this will enable me to use the original ford connectors:-

Both speakers now fitted to the frame, and will cables soldered on:-

And fitted back to the door:-

    Door card back on:-

Now the speakers arent the best on the market, but for 10 off eBay, I'm very happy with the results!

On a side note, the hole in the door once the speaker has been removed was circular. I *think* it may be possible to fit an 8" sub in the doors if need be..

And since I was working on the PC, I decided to sort out a box for my DAB radio.

Purchased the box from Maplins. Part number for reference:-

The inside of the box has little guides:-

These were removed, but a small amount left to act as a platform for the board:-

And the board inside the box:-

The fit is perfect. All that remains is to make the holes for the connectors.
