    Custom Center Console

Hey everyone, just thought i'd share my project to show what i'm doing. I'm still in the process of finishing everything, but feel free to make suggestions or ask questions.

Right now here's a pic of the center console I'm working on. I modified a 1U rackmount computer chassis to match my pro sound gear i converted to 12VDC. Check it out!

I have a lot going on with this truck and will share more pics later.

    Thanks

That's not a drivers seat, that's a cockpit!! Each driver will have to get checked out on the unit before flying it, I mean driving it. Looks good though!

Love the setup..... I would cover the unit with similar interior fabric to get everything look the same. Me, I wouldnt have did it like that because its too exposed. One slip of a drink and its gone.

As far as the "why do you really need all that in the car" comment, its all about different users needs. I'm installing 7 computers in mine. Main system in a similar center console, but in the second row and protected by a plastc barrier for accidents and dust. All the other six are in the back in a special built rack.

    Middle Console:

    Rear PC Bracket and Hatch:
Nirwana Project, the Android/Win 7 hybrid system!

    1X Ainol Novo Flame Tab
    4X MK808b
    3x Perixx Touchpads
    3x 7 inch Screens
    1X 7 inch motorized Screen
    1x Win 7 PC

I made mine close to factory because I actually like the interior stock.

Thanks! I wasn't sure if I wanted to wrap it in vinyl or fiberglass and paint. My gf wants to glass and paint, but i think it'll look closer to factory if i wrap in gray vinyl. As far as the equipment, it's just a digital eq and two 6ch xovers. I'm running two 15"s in the bed, two 12"s for midbass under the rear seat, two horns under the dash for mid/high and two tweeters on the dash for high. I got the tonneau on linear actuators and all the amps in the bed. i'll have to get some more pics up later.

The main one is for all the good stuff, sat tv, internet, obd2, emulators and tons of other stuff. The other six is one PC for each seat. If any people do not want to say watch a movie or what ever everyone is doing, then they hot a button and it switches over to a personal system. Those systems are limited to internet, music, video, chat and what not.

Wrapping always looks closer to stock. Its also easier to fix if damamged. I also noticed that the texture in vinyl is close to what the auto companies use. With fiberglass its 99.9% impossiable to match textures.

    So wait? No CarPC?

    Truck PC

I do have a computer lol. That's why i'm showing my console. I pulled it out for a better look.

It's a supermicro 1U rackmount chassis that I sawed to make fit. It was originally 14" deep, so I cut some of the middle out and moved the back towards the front. I stuffed an M4-ATX power supply, Jetway Mobo, 2.6Ghz Dual Core AMD processor, 4G ram, 80GB SSD, 300GB HDD, and slim DVD drive.

I wasn't thinking about spilling any drinks on it, but now that you say it that would really suck! I may cover the gear with plexiglass or could even do an armrest, but i like it exposed. The crossovers have bouncing LEDs for the levels on each speaker and the EQ has a 31 band RTA that bounces too. I like it all in the middle for easy access so I can adjust and tweak all my xover and eq settings.

But yeah i'm leaning towards vinyl becuase I have never done it before and it seems like it's less labor intensive that the fiberglass (which I have done). I mean how hard can it be right?? Sure I say that now.... haha

That's really cool about the multiple PCs for each passenger. I could never do that becuase even though my truck has a back seat, it's really just a two-seater. Even the bed has little useful space.
