you have piqued my curiosity with the motorized screen-- how was it done, what did you use, and more pics!!!
Hey everybody. First off I wana thank everyone on this forum for helping me out. I'm finally almost done my first carputer project and it has come together really well. I managed to find a screen that fits the fit and finish to the stock mazda head unit so I don't have to change any of the stock trim. If you put a screen in the center stack where the radio is then the trim will have to be changed to black which looks like crap, or the other option is to bring it to a painter to try and match the silver carbon fibre trim which would probably not be that cheap.
Anyways here is my specs:
Intel D510MO Atom Mini-ITX Car PC, M350,
M3-ATX Power supply
1gb of SDRAM 800 or 888mhz can't remember?
Windows XP Media Center edition
Realtech internal Audio
Intel Atom processor 1.66ghz
160gb western digital internal hard drive
Accessories:
DELL external DVD-+RW slot load drive
Dlink Wireless G adapter
USB hub Dynex
OBD2Link
Car2PC Adapter
Screen:
Lilliput 7" Touchscreen VGA
Motorized
I still have to bolt the computer the floorboard and rewire the CD drive directly to the computer b/c the usb hub is not generating enough power, I didn't use the power supply wire. The only other problem I have is the computer is missing key strokes. Doesn't seem to recognize 1 or 5. Have tried 2 different keyboards and it even does it on the onscreen keyboard. Most likely a virus or keylogger will install norton 2morow

Its basically a regular Lilliput 7" Touchscreen mounted into the stock Mazda Headunit. Had to order it directly from China. Must say it is pretty sturdy when you touch the screen. Instead of the screen coming straight up and out of the dash like the stock one this one just folds back on itself and then gets covered. I believe the stock one does not have any cover.
Funny part is that this screen ran me about 450$ after shipping and to order the stock mazda unit starts at 3500$. Lol I swear to god I am gona get in an accident, can't keep my eyes on the road anymore.
oh, i thought you scratch built the screen motorization.. i am always looking for ideas for motorizing panels-- i have a useless clockpod in my car that i have a lot of ideas for-- one of which is motorization, so i am trying to come up with as much info as i can..

Holy crap man just got off of work and seen that pic. I can't believe how clean your dash is, it literally looks like you ripped it out of another car and swapped it into yours. I can only imagine how many hours you put into that.
I was gona say if you can find the stock NAVI unit for your car and just buy the empty shell. There's a couple of different ones for my car but I like stock finish. Then all you do is add whatever size screen you want and add motor. One thing that sux is the motor will eventually die out so it will need to be replaced.
Best bet is to find some schematics off of google. Seen a couple computer generated ones but it was mostly user stuff from forums like this, but people made it work.
Hey is your eclipse a turbo model? My buddy just picked up a Talon TSI and I must say his interior looks nothing like yours. There pretty much the same car.
Could you send me the info for your contact in China so that I can order a screen as well? I have been looking into having this screen in my speed6 as well, just haven't been able to find a contact.
