BMW e39 CarPc project by halloween

im new to this forums, ive been reading for a while and gthering info from this forum, so i can now proudly present my finished(it keeps developing ofcourse) project.

i realy hope i am not violating any forum rules by doing the following:
as i come from Latvia, and we have our own forums there, its just not specific to carpc's, but a friendly bmwpower.lv bmw owner site, and while i was working on my project i posted my progress there, i will copy-paste my story here, translating it as good as i can.
original thread can be found here: http://www.bmwpower.lv/forum_topic.p...=18302&start=0 and its written in latvian.
please excuse me my english, its not my mother-languge.

    so here we begin

    Good evening to everybody.
For a while now i hve hd idea about building my own carpc, but there allways was something missing.
And there came a moment, when i hd moast of things i need to start doing something about it.
I begin with torn-apart Acer Aspire One linux SSD netbook, directly soldering hdd wires on motherboard.

// sorry about big pictures, havent realy used to imageshack

When i know i have something to work with, i removed my OEM Bussiness CD radio, as im tired from radio only. It plyed CDs, but no mp3's.

as everything continues, console is taken apart as well, and where used to be ash tray, theres something you never seen there before- touchpd, for use while touchscreen layer is not bought yet:

lcd matrix is temporary covered with piece of translucent plastic, so there are no scraches while touchscreen-layer arrives

Rest of the pictures can be found here:

    ##############################
    Update: 03.24.

bezel is being fabricated on aluminium frame, glued togeather with epoxy-glue. there will be shaping layer with foam, covered with fiber and epoxy for strenghtening.

we will se how it will turn out, but in my mind i have designed this about like that:

    #########################
    Update 03.25

how it looks now after epoxy and fiberglass:

    ##################################
    Update 03.06.

after first shaping and sand-papering we can see first shapes of bezel
color applayed to see what needs to be corrected

    ################################
    Update 03.28.

    PICTURES CLICKABLE
bezel should be ready now, still waiting for color to strenghten before putting bck in car:

    ############################
    Update 03.29.

the moment has come when visual works should be over now, and to-do-list now only holds wiring amplifyers, dding nvigation maps and smll finishing touches.

its hard to take picture of glowing screen, because of glare if there is flash, and fog if there isnt

    #######################
    Update 03.30.

And here comes pictures asked by other forum members, so they believe its real, and pictures are not DLed from internets:

Thanks for your attention, have a good weekend everybody!

    you are both right.
its 8" Acer Aspire One laptop

, and lcd barely fits in. i had to cut console a bit from inside, so lcd frame fits in.

touchscreen layer i ordered off here:

for now im quite happy with result, just still struggling to get nav working as i like
ive used to igo8, witch i use on my mobile phone, and as i see it as best nav ive used, im still trying to get it work on this pc, but have some issues with resolution, as there are no skins for 1024x600
