Nice Work! I am planing to build a computer system into my Volkswagen Rabbit but im still new to the whole thing. This might be a idiot question but how did you do it with FM radio? Are you still using the car antenna for the signal?

I'm building one as we speak too and I will be using the Directed adapter. picked it up brand new from craigslist for $30. I will use the stock antenna with an amplified adapter. first I will try with a stuby antenna to see how is the reception with that. I don't like the r/c car antenna on my car.

Thanks, I don't like the reception either in the rabbit, the signal is never clear. I thought about using 3g internet but that would never be the same (connectivity speed etc. and also there are some FM receivers you can buy for computers but Im not sure how those will work in the car (signal etc.).

my reception it's good. only in certain spots it's a bit worse.
by reading these forums I figured that the best way to go with the radio(if you are in a big town) is the HD way.

I am using the HD Radio Module off of MP3 Car. I had to figure out how to ground the antenna to the cars chassis as that provide a better reference point than just the factory setup. I am using the cars factory antenna. The stubby looks awesome but the signal is junk.
